It's also trying to stop folk with gas powered guns lobbing projectiles about whist making a right racket.

Once again , le mans becoming a boring race event some what mirror image of what F1 is now days . every year le mans is getting stter and stter and more and more people moaning about how noisy it is and people doing this and that , don't get me wrong there is an exodus of chavs that go every year but why get pissed off with them and let them ruin your weekend at the end of the day your at a 24 hour car race its not exactly a silent disco is it .

Since Peugeot have come back on the scene a few years ago all they have been interested in is cleaning up its image , you cant even rev your car with out being pulled over by the fat tt miserable security apes who threaten to take your entrance ticket off you , its not what it once was and I don't know if anyone else has noticed but the past few years have been less and less busy with campsites not even half full . (There Killing It Off Themselves And It Will Come Back And Bite Them In The Ass) just my 2 pence worth

If I felt as strong as that I don't suppose I'd be reading this Le Mans Forum or considering attending the race. The fact you are (reading this forum) shows you care. So keep your foot in there and don't give up on it.

I have to say, a Goped made my life so much easier last year. I went places I'd never been arsed to go before. Having gone where I like, when I like last year, I'm gutted I have to go back to walking and probably won't go off to 'explore' anywhere near as much this year

Bit of a sod that Garden shears seem to be banned. Always like to do a bit of topiary on beausejour

I'm so glad we stay off site now. Yes we miss out on the drunken stumbling about during the night and it scuppers the extra red wine when the race starts but the regulations seem to be a bit over the top now. 4 weeks until I start packing the car!! Feel like a little kid on Xmas eve already!!!!

Having 2 bad hips I've never felt the need to do anything more than walk. Even with the pain i'm in daily. I've walked to Maison blanche and down the mulsanne straight on the race night. Only time I don't walk is to le mans center when we get the tram.

And as said push bike is a great idea.

Its a bit annoying about the gas bottles but I suppose I'll be ok using one of those aerosol style camping stoves?

The pit scooter ban is a positive move IMO. Too many knobheads riding them around the campsites at all hours and then when you are trying to walk through the crowds during the race, they try to barge through then get stuck by the crowd and proceed on at walking pace. you then get to enjoy a face full of fumes until they can move off again.

The gas bottle thing seems a bit vague, if you ask me. We've got a couple of little gas burners, the ones that sit on a bottle, that we've used in the past. Are they now saying that these are not permitted?

Some of these rules are getting silly now; I assume the same will apply to Classic Le Mans?

I haven't been to the official 24hr for 4/5 years now as it was getting stupidly busy and seemed to have started attracting a lot of tts. Is it still the same or has it settled down a bit now?

I understand the moped rule, but no bonfires or large gas bottles? Crazy....

Probably worse now! I agree with the rules. Just wish I could find a cheap fold down three wheeled bike for getting around!

No scaffold! That will upset a few people.

'Pools la paddling' have been banned for a while now frown France has metered water so I guess someone has to pay the bill?

In which case, I'm glad we opt for Classic instead. Shame it's only every two years frown

Even that is starting to get OTT busy these days. Might have to start looking at alternative, but quieter events in the near future.

And using a caravan.... I'm presuming they will ignore that.

Looking at the attachment (I was on my mobile previously), it looks like I've answered my own question. We will be absolutely fine with the little burner-mounted bottles.

Spent a few hours this afternoon plumbing in a new BBQ quick release gas point on the side of the motorhome so the calor gas bottle can remain safely locked away in the 'official' gas locker. Hopefully that will keep the camp police off our backs!!! It will save dragging the heavy bottle in and out and making sure it's chained to something I guess smile

TBH, I stay off-site and don't think I have a worse time, because of it. We have a good time, some journeys away from the crowd and still get to enjoy the event as a whole.

If I was in my teens or early 20's, then I may think different but constantly restrictive Rules & Reg's are becoming a way of life.... add in thousands of Brits taking over a part of France, it's unsurprising that the French like the rules, their way!

You could always do what we do and just treat the flyer with a pinch of salt, did mean I had to buy a dog though!
