Having been to LeMans since 2005 I've noticed Health and Safety becoming more and more strict.
At first we used to get track-side, not anymore, probably sensible.....
Last year we were told no camp-fires!
I've seen security on horseback - guards with Rottweilers!
This year ACO sent an email saying no motorbikes - no paddling pools - no scaffold etc, not that I take the latter but lots do.
I have always used a little paddock bike to get around, this is now not allowed.
Will this be enforced? Is LeMans going to end up like Silverstone i.e too strict with rules.....

What's a paddock bike? Push bike is ok. I think anything with a motor isn't. There's a link somewhere on one of threads with the list, can't remember off top of my head. Maybe someone could post the offical do's and dont's link again.

At the risk of being unpopular, I have no problem at all with the banning of mini motos and pit bikes, and the inevitable revving the nuts off them until stupid o'clock in the morning by some bell-ends. Have also seen people lose control of them and crash them into people's tents once or twice.

There's no need. Take a normal bike if you want to get around quicker than walking, at least you're less likely to wreck somebody's else's property or irritate the f*** out of people with it.

I read it as banned then.
Or you'll need an official vehicle pass to get around?

If it's a proper moped with number plates, isn't this a registered vehicle and therefore allowed?

If all they are banning is mini motos, pitbikes, go-peds etc then I don't see the problem, personally. If you feel like you can't enjoy Le Mans without tear-arsing around the campsite on a child's toy, you're doing it wrong.

I really can't see any reason why I shouldn't be allowed to bring my big propane bottle.
How is that more dangerous than a similar but smaller campingaz bottle????

Ah well, another item on the 'to hide before entrance' list, together with my bottles of belgian's finest trappist beers biggrin

I read it this way too, as it states 'Unregistered vehicles' as yours is registered it should be fine.

I don't read it in anyway! Its hardly good English! Then again I have had more trouble on sites with the French and the Belgians.

I remember a few years back someone brought a quad strapped fireworks to the back of it then set them off whilst doing doughnuts in the viewing area...

Mini motos we got that sick of people riding through our campsite we placed windbreaks right around our area this year plus the campsite organisers put fences down aswell which solved the problem. Mate was considering making a diy spike strip... Don't think that would of gone down so well...

Does the poster mean multiple large gas bottles rather than 1 or 2? So many people use a large one to power bbq's and outside cookers!

People on beermountain have queried the calor gas bottles crossed out on the poster and had an official response....
ONLY BOTTLES CONNECTED AND SECURELY LOCKED TO CARAVAN / MOTORHOME SYSTEM WILL BE ALLOWED!!!
That means taking a loose calor gas bottle to power a camping double hob / grill and a gas BBQ won't be allowed. Which is exactly what we've done for many years! Luckily this information gives us time to incorporate a quick release gas connection to the motorhome 'system' which hopefully gets round the new rule?

ACO getting more and more ridiculous every year.... On every campsite in Europe you can use these Calor bottles, but not at Le Mans, despite using them for the last 3 years? What's the reasoning behind that?

Hiding my big propane bottle in a carton box of some sort, having an empty campingaz bottle in sight for every entrance guard to see immediately, and we're off.

Suckers.

Interesting, as i will be in the caravan but will have a spare 9kg bottle in the locker because were away for 2 weeks and maybe off the grid for a bit of that.

That's what I was thinking. Going to connect the spare up in the gas locker of motorhome so if you open it it'll look like they're both connected to the 'system'. Maybe they won't be so strict with caravans and motorhomes but never know with the security they have. I just keep thinking it's making it more dangerous than if you had the plastic safety cap on it!

couldnt agree more, i really cant see any problem with gas bbq's etc!

what they are says seems to be that lighting a bbq with charcoal is fine but gas isnt, which seems a bit silly, especially if you have seen how many bottles of lighter fluid i use to light a BBQ winkeekhehe

The problem will be when a gas bottle ends up on a massive bonfire.

I can live without the exitement of not knowing if something will set fire to my tent on Sunday night.
