Just going through my pictures and videos from this year and thought I'd share this of the Mulsanne at 2am. It's always a mission to get to but it's well worth it as you can see!

Mission accomplished yet again. Ripped to shreds but it was all worth it! Can't beat feeling that pressure wave as they blast past 3 abreast at 200+

I absolutely loved being able to drive parts of the course through the long weekend as well, felt like an amazing experience.

My 1st of many Le Mans I'm sure.

So were you actually lying on the grass at the side of the track or did you have the camera on a stick? Either way, brave filming.
Yeah we were laying up against the barriers so the marshalls etc wouldnt spot us in the light. Its all lit up now along the side of the track. We only stayed in that position for around 10 mins max. Any longer and we would have been spotted.

Brilliant vid fartkong- how did you get there? I fancy a sneaky look next year..
It depends on which direction you're coming from but all I'll say is google maps is your friend. smile Just be prepared to have your arms and legs ripped to shreds getting through all the brambles, some of which are head high!

My first time at Le Mans we tried to get the restaurant on the other side of the track to where you were. Iirc it had gone ticket only or something equally boring.

Great vid.
The last time I went to look there was after all the 'safety' fencing had been put in etc etc etc and the place seemed to be closed to spectators so would be surprised if anyone would want to get a ticket.

Before that it was just an open pub type beer garden with only the armco type barriers outside the hedge with parking and a camp site in the fields at the back.Everyone used to 'borrow' the seats and place them in the hedge to stand on.I've got some old VHS video of those times over the years which is similar to this but better quality. It seems to have been filmed where the old gates were between the buildings.

I wonder if the ACO search for videos like this and adjust accordingly?
I used to be able to climb some trees on the outside of Porsche curves near the braking point up until 2 years ago when suddenly on our next visit the trees where gone! I got some amazing footage from above the cars.
it's still possible to get near the track and look through the barrier and I managed to get some decent footage using a gopro on a gopole, once uploaded to youtube I'll post it here

I wondered the same but we put up a similar video back in 2008 and nothing has changed since except that they have lights along the edge of the barriers now to light up anyone crossing over.

We've seen some additional fencing in some parts of the Mulsanne and the lighting of course but no significant change since 2008 when we first did it. You can still lie right there for 5/10 mins. Getting there is the real challenge. We were very nearly caught in 09 by plod but we lay in a ditch with them right next to us and luckily managed evade capture. Here's our first vid from 08. If you look closely you will see the ninja eyes of FartKong through the armco. Earphones essential of course and excuse the dodgy camera work i was scensoredg myself.

Top marks! That's a hard spot to get to! Raises hairs on the back of my neck. Any officials en route? Can't believe it's been a week since Le Mans already!
