In 1 hour and 52 minutes two Kiwis will be Portsmouth bound...from Welshpool. One lives in said 'town' and the others flown from Kiwiwland for the Classic...both can't wait!!!

We're in the car with the HUGE All Blacks/NZ flag...;-)

As duty security manager at the Port (Portsmouth) this morning, I can confirm it was very busy, probably 80 percent of traffic heading to Le mans.

I'm back, everyone had a good one? One thing that did happen to me was Getting stuck between the carriages on the eurotunnel! My car is Low and the ramps between each carriage are usually OK but this time one of them was a bit lower than usual and the car had to be given some beans to get it to unstick! I think it was my rear tow hook on the lower chassis rail that took the brunt of the force!

We're not back until Friday. Am dreading what the tent will be like.

Was my first time there and really enjoyed it. Great spirit and the campsite had a good feel to it. Will be forever grateful to the chaps who have us their lit BBQ as we were having 'technical issues'.

Only place I have never queued for the ladies either.

However, the price of the beer. Dear lord.

We snuck little bottles in to the circuit and filled our €1 cups with them..

I'm seriously tempted to write to the ACO and point out that, based on our personal experience, we would have bought more beer / food at the circuit if the prices weren't so offensive. I know the main race is a different kettle of fish, with more beer being drunk by more people, but the Classic is a slightly different affair and not everyone is a well-heeled Aston-owing, Rolex wearing punter who can nonchalantly pay EUR 6.50 for a pint. Same with the food - EUR 10.00 for a barely filled baguette, and EUR 3.50 for a small portion of chips - it's just not necessary.

I know our group (and we're not paupers or cheapskates) actively avoided spending money at the circuit by the Sunday. And even at the main race I think we only got two rounds of beers instead of the normal 'many' following this year's price hike.

Make a profit by all means, but don't expect people not to notice when you take the piss.

If everyone bought more beer/food at the circuit they wouldn't be able to cope! The service was so slow

True - I thought they'd gone on strike at one stage, but it turns out they were just useless.

Have to agree, but doubt that the ACO will do anything.
This was my second 'Classic' with chim666 jnr and we thoroughly enjoyed the racing ( the moisture certainly made for exciting racing driving )
I'll probably go again (maybe next time...or the time after), but it's unlikely to be with the same organisers/campsite as our previous trips. Certain things I was not to happy about and the stand tickets we bought as a 'club' stand was in fact T22 Wollek - we couldn't see towards the final chicane due to the large screen in the way, there was no lid on the stand and we had soggy rough wooden planks for seats. So we abandoned the idea of watching from the stand and stood both days on the banking at the Dunlop Chicane.

The highest price I saw was €8 for beer at the 'American diner' which sold the same stuff as the other outlets. It was also shut by the midnight drive in film. Such a shame as could have been really fun if done properly (with coke floats and milkshake etc).

And €24 for a burger and chips judging the standard of food that was coming out was just obscene.

The other thing I'll avoid next year is going to carrefour on the Saturday morning. Avoided most of the down pours but it took three hours to get round.

All in all it was brilliant. I say this from a comfy, dry hotel bed with internet and running water.
