Just to let others know that Portsmouth to Le Havre tomorrow night has screwed up the cabin bookings for those that have made such arrangements!
Apparently they have changed the boat to a smaller one with less cabins, so I will no longer be able to get my beauty-sleep before the mornings drive! S'OK for you young-uns, but the thought of trying to get some kip on those semi-reclining seats doesn't fill me with excitement, and that's even if I manage to get one in the ensuing bun-fight for seats!

Mr very grumpy!

That was the case for the 24 hour too. They should have emailed people.

When packing your car put the airbed on the top, not the bottom. When you get on the boat grab the airbed and take it with you. Once under-way and people have settled down find some floor, blow up the airbed and away you go.

Then don't pack the rechargable airbed inflator at the bottom either!

That's unbelievable. The only reason we've booked with them is because of the cabin (..not cannon of course though that would be more fun, f-ing autocorrect) overnight. Can I ask when you booked and which crossing it was for? I booked 2 cabins back in January for the Thursday 3rd July one, not heard anything from them though.

Soft play area which was a good idea still was not too bad and did surprisingly get some sleep in the bar chairs

DFDS emailed me 8 weeks ago about this as I was booked on Thursday night crossing -they offered me a seat instead and a cabin refund only. I said no as the whole point for me of that crossing is the ability to sleep in comfort for 6 hours - so after a "discussion furious " they offered me Newhaven to Dieppe on 4 hour overnight for same price - even thou you could still book it cheaper direct online???
So told them to go forth and multiply - full refund issued and instead I booked Thursday morning chunnel instead....so a nice leisurely drive across country is on the cards driving

Reason DFDS gave was that it was now a smaller ship and ALL the cabins were reserved for freight drivers...

And I booked the crossing with DFDS last September 2013!!!

That's strange.. We booked 2 outside cabins for Thursday back in January but not had any emails since, unless it ended up in my spam. I've checked the booking today and it still shows cabins booked. There will be 8 mightily pissed off blokes tomorrow if they've cancelled it and not told us.

I traveled DFDS Portsmouth to Le Harve Friday night just gone (unfortunately not for a Le Mans related trip!). Had 2 cabins between 6 of us, decent nights kip. Plenty of spare cabins from what I could see.

DFDS said:

"We regret to inform you that due to a change of vessel on this route, we are unable to offer 4 berth inside cabin and cannot therefore provide the accommodation reserved with your ticket.
A standard seat has been reserved for all the members of your party on board the Seven Sister and the Reservations Service will arrange a refund of the sum of £75 for the accommodation reserved."

I originally asked for a 2 berth cabin regardless of what above statement says.....and checked at time of booking that it was just a 2 berth cabin....

Hopefully all those with booked cabins will have received the email and everything goes according to plan for you - but might be worth a call in morning just to check in case...

See you all at the circuit,

We lost our cabin on an Easter crossing from Portsmouth as the new boat has less cabins. This was despite booking around September/October last year, we were told elderly/disabled/families with kids were favoured when cabins were re-allocated.

I made a fuss and DFDS paid for us to go on the Brittany Ferries fast boat the following morning instead, just lost 3-4 hours in France. Still came back with DFDS.

In their defence, (and i have no connection with them other than being a fare paying customer) we have used DFDS on the Portsmouth Le Havre route, Newhaven Dieppe route and Dover Calais route many many times now and have always been impressed with them.

No consolation when you're forced to kip on the floor I know, but just wanted to add a positive
