He was saying that the F1 has more power than the R18 but that the Michelin boots on the R18 are better than the Pirellis on the Caterham so they can commit more to the corners in the R18. He also mentioned that his instinct when getting out of the car was to loosen the belts before unbuckling.

Are they?Pirelli are making the tyres with the performance differences and degredation characteristics the FIA mandated. If Michelin were the sole F1 tyre supplier they would have to deliver to those same requirements and so deliver a very similar tyre.
Given the types of tyre they are being asked to make I doubt Michelin are missing F1. Hell, I doubt Pirelli really want to be there!
