Le Mans for the virgin
Discussion
I know, shameful, never been before, etc...
Anyway, for the newbie, who would be best Team Langoustine, PH & Thomas Cook Air Track?
I am looking for somewhere with walking distance of the track, there is beer to be consumed of course, private, does food, provides tickets, etc.
Basically I want to simplfy it as much as possible for the first time and get campsite, race tickets, etc all in one hit.
TIA

Remember also that there are so many things going on that you can't do them all. You can always do them another time - because you will be back - trust me.
Timing is of the essence - sooner rather than later - the event is getting more popular again (as people leave Formula One). Nearly 240.000 spectators
This year (as in previous years) I sent out a Spotters' Guide to over 100 PH's

Used Speedchills for the last 6 years. they offer different campsites and ferry times and they also have the option of a catered, secure site in Blue Sud (i think).
Would agree with the hurry up though, our booking time has got earlier every year, December last year, already booked for next year.
It's Le Mans, you'll have an epic time.

People generally have good things to say about:
- PistonHeads
- SpeedChills
- Team Langoustine
- White Rabbit Racing
Location-wise all site's are reasonably close to the action - except Beausjour. That's not to say it's a bad site, it certainly has it's fans but it's quite a walk to the 'village' and start straight.

I've used 1st Tickets Pistonheads site 3 times now and I'm booked up for my 4th this year, if it ticks all the boxes and it ain't broke.............

I've also gone for grandstand seats this year so we can rock up to our seats whenever we feel like it without having to get there 5 hours before the start to get a front row spot.

Purely from location and not for facilities (I'm a Houx man, not private), I'd do TL. The location means you're right in amongst it at Terte Rouge, and if you're paying the premium, you might as well go for the least walking.
Airtrack location is beside Houx, it'd be a lot quieter than TL. I've never ventured over to the PH site, so don't even know where it is!

Lycian Events up on the Porsche Curves right next to the banking is also worth considering:

I've been twice now with PH & whilst there are clearly many choices of operator, 1st Tickets have suited us & we like the secure camping site option. As has been said, get & book a place soon & start planning! We did grandstand tickets the first time but not the second as we instead decided to put the money towards an overnight ferry crossing & therefore less travel distance both sides of the channel which does make a big difference.
I would consider the PH package. Alternatively, you can book it yourself via the ACO and whichever your operator of choice is for getting across the channel - but you would not have some of the extras that the planned events do (bar / amenities etc).
A yrong recommendation for Beermountain echoed here as well. Sqdn Ldr Toad would love to welcome you aboard (although they do not arrange your trip as such).

The private sites are clearly very popular, although at a cost - think roughly twice that for one of the public sites. The joy of choice, horses for courses and all that.
Some folk don't like mixing with all the chavery that goes on in certain sites and like to watch it through a security fence. Myself, I camp off circuit; municipales are as cheap as on site and much nicer. The only downside of this is one of your party needs to remain sober to drive and you will have to negotiate the Saturday morning traffic. However, I found that as long as I wasn't going anywhere near Beausejour that it was bearable and moved. Having a car stocked with food (fromage et baguettes) and picnicing in the car-park like the French do meant we didn't have to pay silly prices for on-circuit catering.Bobo W said:

Being a first timer, I want the security of a private site, plus the ability to keep up with the race at the camp site, walking distance so can partake in the refreshments and the ability to cover it all with one operator.I hope this is going to be the first of many and it might well change in a few years if it is, but that's what I want this year.
Well the public sites are just as good, radio Le Mans will keep you up to date and you can see the big screens from some of the campsites, the private sites have some advantages but the ordinary sites will have everything you need at a far lower cost meaning more money for those luxuries like Beer
