Indeed, especially as the DVD is almost half the price of one standard ticket to see it at the cinema if you buy from Asda:
I've pre-orfered from Amazon for the same price with free delivery as well

So after creating thus thread and potentially generating some more ticket sales I'm disapponted to report that vue plymouth cinema couldn't get the satalite link up to work and couldn't show the film.

30 minutes of blank screen then somebody got up to find out what was going on..then we're told it wasn't happening.

Hope everybody else enjoyed it though!

I went to Camberley Surrey

I wouldn't say it was a Must See but it did give a good inside view of a team

Money back and free tickets for another film but will pursue it a little further given the 90 mile round trip and it being a one off showing etc.

My thoughts exactly. A classic story which the film doesn't quite do justice, but worth a watch if you're a fan.

This - a good story and of interest to a fan. Harry Ticknell came across as quite a sharp young man, wouldn't be surprised to see him in a P1 before too long, what with works teams seemingly flocking back. Simon Dolan seems an interesting man, and has done very, very well (note he was racing under the Monagasque flag) and is clearly very driven and fights hard to be successful. However I did think he was a bit of a pathological willy waver - though I suspect that is half the motivation to be so successful.

There were one or two flaws in the film if I am honest. The only reason I know the back story was because I went - at no point did the film ever mention anything about the other cars in the class - you were sort of left to guess who was what and where they were - which took some of the depth out of the story. Also at no point did they admit that P2 wasn't the top class. They sort of implied it here or there - and although we all know that class victories are equally worthy - it felt a little like it was deliberately played down - which is silly.

Saw the film in Cambridge, when the film started there were only about 8 people but this increased to about 15 people I think. When the credit came up all left apart from 5 of us which then dropped to 3 during the Q&A which is a massive shame I feel as it was interesting to see the people "live."

I enjoyed the film but felt that it was severely lacking in depth or insight in many areas. Ultimately it felt like a bit like somebody was given a camcorder and a press pass and was left to get on with it. It would have been nice to have more details about how the races unfolded as it all felt rather disjointed. I didn't learn anything new and found that in many cases I had to fall back on my memories of the races to fill in the blanks.

Then the sound failed for the Q&A and I didnt get to see any of that!

Echo the comments so far. It was enjoyable, but its clearly in a different league to Truth in 24 (I and II). It won't appeal much to not Motorsports fans IMO.

Well we wondered if there wasn't meant to be sound at the very start (hadn't started properly and not turned mics on etc), so waited until it became evident that this should now have sound, and gave it 5 minutes to see if the glitch got fixed. It didn't so we decided Simon Dolan's shirt was 2 sized too small for him and left.

I watched the film at the Vue cinema in Portsmouth. I agree with the other posters that it's an ok film, but a key point for me was an admission during the Q&A session when one of the film makers said that he wasn't a motorsport fan. I'm afraid that shows in the film itself. It almost misses the main story, which was the car dropping to 14th in class, 29th overall, and then going on to win it's class (5th overall). I remember at the time the Radio Le Mans guys kept referring to the car as it picked it's way through the field, particularly in the last eight hours. It was a brilliant story, and I can't understand how you'd let that slip through your fingers when it's happening right in front of you?

For a start, surely you show more of the race itself than the last half hour or so in a 90 minute film? The build up to it felt quite ponderous at times. They used RLM commentary throughout the film, so obviously had the rights to it. If it were me, I'd have shown no more than 45 mins of background, and 45 on the race itself. I would have shown them dropping to 14th/29th in the second hour, and shown the human side of that, the frustration, dissappointment etc of falling down the field. You then show the fightback. They were back up to 15th in hour three, so why not show that?

Looking at the ACO stats (www.24h-lemans.com/en/race/results_2_2_2046.html) the car hovered around 15-11 overall for hour after hour, so again why not big that up- Small team, battling to hang in there against some big names, war of attrition, endurance test for everyone, etc etc. Then you big it up again as the car starts to creep up the list in the last eight hours. If they'd trawled through the RLM commentary and found every reference to the car gaining places, overlaid that onto their own footage and the Eurosport broadcast and added dramatic music, they'd have ended up with an edge-of-your-seat thriller.

Surely you count the hours down, where the car is every hour, you show the Rolex clock repeatedly, show the sheer fatigue on everyone's faces, all to emphasise the relentless grind to the point of exhaustion that is Le Mans. And surely you play on the last splash and dash- if anything goes wrong now the class win could be lost, second car only a lap behind and reeling them in etc etc.

And why not big up that it's a class win, with a small team battling against the might of big factory teams and coming out best of the rest? It adds to the David v Goliath element of it all. By the end, there shouldn't have been a dry eye in the house, but the drama just didn't come across. Dunno, maybe the team had right of veto over what went in, or they didn't give much raw emotion away on the day? Maybe the crew just didn't get enough footage? Either way, it's a missed opportunity I'm afraid.

Went to Vue Edinburgh. There were 7 of us in the cinema so obviously not a big draw or perhaps it reflects a lack of marketing. Anyway - I would echo all the comments made so far about the flaws and the missed opportunity. I would think the film appeals more to folks who have been to LM than those who haven't or who aren't into motorsport.

I did think the Patrick Stewart voice-overs were pretty cringe making. They came across as trying too hard to put some drama into it when a better portrayal of the story they had would have done that.

As has been said - if it was put together by LM fans it would have been very different. Don't want to knock it too much though - at least she tried and got a decent finished product.

Went to Sheffield to see this. Arrived 2 minutes to 7 and we were the only people in the screen, those VIP seats really paid off. Eventually about 5 more arrived. Good story, puts together a season which I was aware of bits and peices but this put it all together. The Tiff Needell voice overs seemed unnecessary, just sounded like they've taken this from Gran Tourismo game and just used him to add his name to the project. Still a good film, risky taking on a project not knowing the outcome of the year so the story really made it. I won't bother with the DVD but will definitely be keeping an eye out for JOTA in the ELMS next year.

I could have quite easily walked in without paying for a ticket at all at Cambridge, only members of staff I saw were on the tills. I walked in, printed off my ticket at the machine and walked into the theatre. Could have got away with it!
