Journey to Le Mans - One off Showing - 11/11

They are in negotiation with over 100 TV companies worldwide to show an abridged version of it, presumably within the next few months. But at £7 from Asda, (direct.asda.com/Journey-to-Le-Mans---DVD/003755949,default,pd.html) I'd still say it's worth it, and I'm probably it's biggest critic so far.
I found it an enjoyable couple of hours and will probably get the DVD but I'd also echo what has been said above. They missed a good opportunity there as the story from the Silverstone crash through to the win at Le Mans was right there, indeed if it was a fictional story made by Hollywood we would probably all be scoffing at the cheesiness of it. In the end it was an interesting record of one team at Le Mans but not much else.
I went down to London to watch it. I enjoyed it, but as has been said I don't know as it will have much in the way of wider appeal past LM visitors - be interesting to see how it fairs when it's shown on ITV4.
There were a few niggles; same clip used twice within minutes of each other (passing an AM car), mixture of Patrick Stewart and Tiff Niddell as Voiceover (apparently a deal was done with both prior to knowing exactly what the plan was and they carried through with using both) and also the spurious use of Webber's (and to a lesser extent McNish's) name as 'also starring' when the involvement seemed to amount to a shot of him getting out of Dolan's jet and at the parade!
I'd honestly forgotten about the Duval aspect of the story!!!

I noticed the passing of the Aston into Porsche Curves being repeated. Also they over used slow motion shots - and that slightly annoying camera on the front of the cockpit looking into Simon Dolan's earnest eyes (as opposed to the actual on-board).
All this moaning sounds like I hated it, which I didn't. It was still a decent film for a fan - but feels a little like a missed opportunity.

Interesting story from Hindy about Truth in 24 - it was very much literally thrown together! So a real amazing film from where it actually came from.RobGT81 said:

My girlfriend and I have friends who work for Jota so luckily got the chance to join them at the premiere at Leicester Square. Was great watching the film alongside the people in it and chatting to the drivers etc afterwards. I think it definitely made the experience seeing it on the big screen...

If someone can enlighten me as to whether the DVD version is genuinely 92 minutes long, I'd be very grateful. Or is that 50 minutes of film (1 hour less ads) plus lots of "extras"?

Meanwhile, this leads me to mention two previously released DVDs of a very similar nature.
"Le Mans: In the Lap of the Gods" a 90 minute 2-part film following Martin Short's attempt in 2006
and
"License to Le Mans" a 3 hour 4-disc box-set following Paul Drayson's attempts to race at Le Mans; he's blind in one eye!
I can recommend both if you liked "Journey".
Meanwhile, this leads me to mention two previously released DVDs of a very similar nature.
