I still find it baffling that F1 gets such a following and WEC is overlooked. I've been riveted to the screen for 5 hours, there was only 1 10 minute point where there wasn't wheel to wheel racing for a top 4 position in P1. There's constant action, it's just superb.

It's also perfectly timed, since everyon just bought tickets to the proper race this week =)

Quite amazed but I've managed to watch the entire race without interruption from the family. Also been good to drop into Radio Le Mans and use the FIA WEC app to check timings. Time to check the calendar for next year, maybe Silverstone or even Spa could be possible.

I'll definitely be at Silverstone for the WEC. Only racing I get to watch live these days and won't miss it for the world. Always make a weekend out of it too.

Ouch. Not good.

News just in - team see he is OK.

If that is the case, either Porsche first win and Turner / Mucke get a result, or it's restarted and the Yota on new rubber is a shoe in...

Bloody hell, not much left of the car. I assume the body takes as much energy as possible in a crash leaving the safety cell as protected as possible?

2 factors - first is that in general, an LMP actually looks more like a formula car when it's clothes are taken off - they're aero, not structure. Second, is that they have very good deformable bits (like a formula car) that protect from impacts - so the body takes little, the crash structures take a lot.

As the commentators were just saying, the hardest part is a multi hit accident, where the crash structure is already deformed - thankfully I think this one was left - right - rear so hopefully Mark will be up and smiling soon.

Webber is ok and seeing visitors in the hospital, his teammates have been to see him.

"Ferrari with Gianluca Roda and Paolo Ruberti, is reported to have told his team that he was hit by the Porsche only after Webber had lost control."

That's either the best Bart Simpson 'I didn't do it' line because the video is after the start of the crash, or Mark lost the car and collected the Ferrari on the way to the wall.
