As the title says Oliver jarvis is to take Tom kristensens seat at Audi next season with Rene rast getting a drive in the 3rd audi for spa and le mans. I suppose Jarvis at least has experience with the r18 etron project. Glad rast has been given the chance, class driver.
Thoughts anyone?

Sorry I know nothing about this guy other than I've heard his name but looking at his track record of finishes in all the types of racing he's done he looks decidedly average at best?! Correct me if I'm wrong and I know stats don't tell the whole story but landing this drive looks nothing short of a major result for him?

I'm an Audi fan and I'm sure they must know what they are doing and it's great to have a Brit in the car, but what am I missing?

I suspect we might have said that about almost any of the Audi LMP drivers when they were first recruited but, as you say, they seem to know what they are doing.

One of his ex girlfriends used to be our neighbors nanny so we managed to get him to give us a pit tour a couple of years ago. After working in F1 I was amazed at how much access we got. We've followed him ever since, he would not have got that drive if Audi did not think he could win.

Interesting story, and I mean this very jovially, but "One of his ex girlfriends used to be our neighbors nanny" is a great tenuous motorsport related link.. smile

Equally great opportunity for me to mention that my ex-step mum's ex-husband was Vic Elford. The amazing memorabilia in the house while I growing up was what planted the Porsche seed, but although knowing his kids reasonably well, I never got to meet the great man himself.

I wonder what other tenuous links to motorsport stars people here have? Might make an interesting thread smile

EDIT: And while we're at it, it would be great to know more about some of you on here who seem to have lots of motorsport gossip. (Great Dane etc) C'mon guys, spill the beans - what's your connection?! smile
