Interesting cars at Le Mans vs. classics price explosion
Discussion
Now prices for anything old or interesting have gone bananas and nice cars are in the hands of investors instead of enthusiasts, will this have a negative effect on the atmosphere at LM 2015?
A big part of the event for me is being surrounded by a mix of fantastic, rare, unusual or just much loved motors. The variety of cars attending seems to have fallen a little over the last few years. Will it fall further this year? Or is Le Mans enough of a draw to get the collectors to come down and show off for a weekend?

The main 24 hour race was dry but there was a fair few showers at the classic event a few weeks later, i always remember my first few le mans in the eighties being surrounded by hundreds of classic cars in the campsites but if you reqlly think about it the cars there in the eighties i remember as classics were only 10 or 15 years old, if you look in the campsites today the age of cars is if anything even older but perhaps perspective of what is classic has changed well at least in age anyway
I don't think the threat of rain really makes much odds to the sort of enthusiast who's mad on Le Mans and keen to show their car off.
Said car suddenly being worth £50k more than it was a couple of years ago might though, even if they've kept it in the face of big offers or more likely been priced out of buying it in the first place?

Yes, the number of classics is dropping here, for sure. I wonder if it is because my generation is getting old and don't go any more, plus the price of classics is out of the reach of younger people. But the antics of some drunken bar stewards is one reason why on Friday my cars stay in the garage.
