PH Friday Service
Discussion
Don't know if it's too late to organise, but what would be a good idea is if PH could agree something with the CBW to have a dedicated area. Maybe on the top fields section.
I think a lot of us go to the CBW, and the trek back from there to Arnage is always difficult with the amount of traffic on the roads on Friday.

Oh no, the CBW, (thats Classic British Welcome, not Great British Welcome) should be left well alone. I enjoy the drive down, pizza, cake, wander, beer and then drive to Mulsanne for more beer.
Yes, you're right....Classic British Welcome, not Great. Edited my OP.The problem we've had the last couple years is that the traffic is usually so bad on the Friday that unless you leave the CBW pretty early, it can take a while to get back up to the Friday Service. Last year it took us a couple hours. By the time we got there everyone was gone.
I can understand the need to keep the Friday Service fairly close to the camping sites though.

Glad someone started this thread. I had already written to the powers that be on the matter and have had no reply at all. I went to the Bounty fishing lakes today who, if PH are letting it drop, are prepared to step into the breach, with English beer, steak and kidney pies and chips to possibly tear you away from the garlic pizza. However, they will need to have some idea if this is a goer, since it takes preparation and supplies. So let us be hearing from you all.

Love CBW and wouldn't want to miss it but would also like Bounty as missed it when PH were there.
We dropped into Bounty a couple of years ago for a pint of ale. Nice looking site, decent bar. Still no news on PH for Friday. In the same way the Mulsane meet has now moved to the corner, be good to get back to Arnage corner parked up on the grass. Loved that the first few years until it all got blocked off.As already posted, I've written to eybic asking if, since the departure of Garlic and others, the PH Service would be continuing. I have had no reply. I saw the owner of the Bounty yesterday and he said he had heard they were running it and that he wouldn't be running one at the Bounty in that case. Fully understood. So it seems it is St. Saturnin or not much else as a sensible gathering. You surely won't find me on the Mulsanne on the Friday afternoon!
I enjoyed the Mulsanne corner meet last year. Very 'French', in the nicest possible way. Lots of interesting cars, and no louts.
Although the CBW is very good, it takes a good chunk of time out of the day, especially if you want to get beck to dump the car before heading into town. There's just too much to do/see on the Friday!

We're not doing the Friday Service in the traditional format this year.
A couple of reasons for this are that the traffic was awful last year and we (and the ACO) don't see it getting any better. With the location being where it is, options are really limited for travel to and from so we've decided to do something different which will be the biggest PH presence in Le Mans to date.
Details are still being confirmed but as soon as we have anything set in stone, we'll be sure to let you know.

I hope Eybic & the team can find somewhere that doesn't get gridlocked too badly otherwise I might just leave the car at the campsite sadly and walk to the event....could we not have it closer to the circuit?!A couple of reasons for this are that the traffic was awful last year and we (and the ACO) don't see it getting any better. ACO caused the traffic with security at BJS. If they want to improve it more people, bigger checking in area to get incomers off the roundabout would be a great start.A couple of reasons for this are that the traffic was awful last year and we (and the ACO) don't see it getting any better. I don't blame you, I did drive to it last year, but it much quieter last year that previous years because I think everyone else had the same idea - walk down and look at the cars as the traffic is horrendous.Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
