I'd actually like to see Audi win again. There was something pleasing about last year with the 2 young pretenders dashing around like crazy but slowly falling by the way-side, only for the slower but more experienced old fella' to keep going and take the win.
That said this will be my 13th or 14th Le Mans and so far I've only seen 1 non-Audi winner (painting it green and sticking a Bentley badge on it doesn't count).

I'm loving the launches today. Having Audi up a class makes them quicker - that's awesome. Audi have excelled at the "we're slower but more reliable" game for over a decade. Having them speed up a little keeps it interesting when.....
Toyota recognize that they're already the fastest, and work on reliability.
Meanwhile, the legendary squad from Zuffhausen have upped the ante to be the first ever team to enter in the 8mJ category. Bearing in id they were impressively quick when running the 6mJ last year, this can only be a good thing - IF they can make it work. I'm pretty sure that the #14 Webber car spent at least 1/3rd of the last 24 trundling round nursing a hybrid problem.
I'll be happy if any of the 3 win - I'd love for Toyota to get the reward, but equally I love the Porsche history at LM and it would be good to see them do well. Do Audi deserve to keep dominating due to engineering excellence in the worlds greatest test of design and reliability? Course they do. The only real hope I have is that it's not settled till the final hour - and that Nissan get a car across the line as a classified finisher.

You cant honestly credit that win to Audi alone, they were part of the success yes but....... The design, development and manufacturing for the Bentley was done in Norfolk at Racing Technology Norfolk. The Chief designer was Peter Elleray, very much an Englishman ! It had an Xtrac gearbox by Xtrac, a British company, different tyres to the R8, Joust Racing relyed on British companies to prepare and developed the car and that included the Audi supplied engine. Audi most certainly did not win Le Mans in 2003.Edited by Rs2oo on Friday 27th March 08:31

That would be the Bentley Speed 8 designed by Peter Elleray, the same Peter Elleray who was responsible for desigining the Audi R8C...//j17 said:

OK, it would be more correct to say I've only seen one race not won by VAG. That also limits me to wanting Toyota to win as Porsche are part of VAG and, well Toyota just seem to keep annoying me. Managing to crash in to the Delta Wing, a car that had gone above and beyond what was required to get out of everyone else's way as it was in garage 56 at the restart of a safety car period caused by the sister car (and I still think that was as much down to Davidson's lack of patience as Perazzini not looking in his mirrors/expecting a huge lunge right before a straight where the following LMP1 could have just walked past).

I tend to support British drivers and am 50/50 on the Davidson incident. Split second decision at 180mph........ Mc Nish and many others have done exactly the same thing. He has, grown as a driver (2014 WEC Champion) but as for Nakajima crashing into the Delta Wing, that was/ is inexcusable. I can't wait for this years race, the sport needs someone to knock Audi off the winners podium in a straight race. Might place a small bet on Rebellion for a podium..........
