Think my current one is 8 or 9 years old
Is yours still working on the original battery ? Mine is about 6 years old, and just wondering when I should pro-actively replace it.
Yup, still on original, I expect it to fail every year and it hasn't so far

I got my tag in 2011 shortly after Sanef set up in the UK.

Yesterday I contacted them with a query about battery life and they recommended I get my tag replaced which I will now do. I have to say that the process is rather cumbersome: I hope it is successful!

I was surprised when in Ireland and the tag started beeping at motorway tolls... Did not create any bills, I did wonder what their systems made of it though....

Mine was activated 21st April 2012. So I would guess I have another year before I need to swap it out.

I've posted this before, but the clue that the battery is on its last legs is when it works but fails to beep when you arrive at a péage. At Le Mans north, exit 23, they have an office and can change it for you. And as aforesaid, do not wav e it about. We came back from the UK this morning in the XKSS and I just held it up but didn't wave it about. That way it works, but wave it about and the it won't scan.

Bit of a thread resurrection, but hopefully the right place to ask the question.

As the fuel crisis seems to have disappeared I'm planning my taking my 38A Range Rover. Does anyone know whether the toll tag works alright behind its heated windscreen elements?

Normally I'd use the large black area on the screen, but it isn't very large on the Range Rover. I'm thinking there is no other place to put it other than at the top beside the mirror.

Thanks

Todd
Despite the lack of shaded area on the windscreen the toll tag worked - although it made us wait until almost the last moment everytime before beeping.

My invoice is for £28.86, I wonder if they average them out before posting it

My route down was via Cherbourg and returned via Le Havre

Anyway, the toll tag worked perfectly and I'm sure the French git behind me at the toll thought he'd be boxing me in, stuck!

His face in the mirror when this little green English car beeped its way through was a picture

If you doubt the toll prices, then you can confirm the price here:-

http://www.autoroutes.fr/fr/itineraires.htm?xtor=A...

If you want a good route planner abroad, go here:-

You can plan in different routes, the size of your car, and it will then give you the petrol cost and the péage costs. Oh, and the route!

I found the billing strange as I was expecting 1 massive bill as I did a few weeks in France touring but ended up with 2 £100+ bills. Seems to add up from the itemised statement but was a shock.

Thing that worries me is if I did put my foot down then technically they could use it to prove it could they not?

Mine is only 18 months old and stopped working earlier this year. I assumed it was faulty and ordered a replacement (I think - it's never arrived!). However, it turned out it was because my debit card had expired. Updated the details on the APRR site and it started working again.

P.S. Some car parks in France are tag enabled, which is very useful!

I did notice from my last Peage bill from Aug, that the bill now flags that my device is getting old and the battery should be replaced.
I'll do this before June. :-)

Arrived back home today and the péage was out of commission and all barriers open. How nice to get a €50 early Xmas present!

Thanks to this topic, I just checked my Sanef online account and sure enough, there is a message to say that my battery is 'near expiry'.
The remedy is to order an extra tag then return the old one for a refund.
Mine is around 7 years old.

Have just had mine delivered, duly activated and I am certainly looking forward to the ease of use, I'm just worried about the 1st peage, I'd be wounded if it didn't work, has anyone experienced this?
