Peage Toll Tag

Activated mine yesterday. Just hope that it gets picked up as the old girl has no mottled shaded area. I guess all I can do it stick it up behind the mirror and hope for the best. Anybody else use these ok without any of that fancy new shaded stuff?
The shaded area think is only relevant to cars with solar reflective and/or heated front screens. There's a particular issue with mid 2000's Renaults with a metal film in the screen which blocks GPS and the transponder signals so you have to put the unit in this untreated area.If you have a normal car with a normal clear or tinted screen it'll work fine - I used to leave mine in the dash-top cubby in my old Subaru and it worked there through the plastic lid.
Another point - do not leave the tags on view when parked in a service area. They get stolen by people as it's effectively a free pass off the toll road.
Had one for several years now and it's great.
Be aware of the Frenchie Game:
Ah the stupid English is obviously unaware of what this lane is. So I will drive 3mm from his bumper and get really cross when he tries to reverse out.
Just remember to look in your mirror as you drive through. The disappointment on Frenchie's face is usually a picture

I've seen these things a few times. The youtuber Shmee150 uses one on his Euro trips and just holds it up to the windscreen when approaching the barrier. Beep. Through you go. I have just signed up and apparently one is winging its way to me. I usually have a passenger but this should prevent the frantic search for cash and the ticket whenever we approach a peage booth.
I haven't seen anything about activation though. Are activation instructions included when it arrives?

Yes, as you have to activate the tag itself, which has an id code on the reverse side of it.I haven't seen anything about activation though. Are activation instructions included when it arrives?

I'd be careful - I've used my tag a lot and I find if it's not on the bracket and you try waving it, it can be quite hit and missI haven't seen anything about activation though. Are activation instructions included when it arrives?
If you don't mount it, best bet when driving through is to look for a vertical pole with a device on the top a little larger than a brick, angled down, normally white, with a 'face' around 10" wide, 6" deep. Point the tag at that

TBH, activation is pretty straight-forward - which makes a nice change, with things French! I haven't seen anything about activation though. Are activation instructions included when it arrives?
So easy to use. Get a few extra mounts for other vehciles. Never failed to activate barrier in the 3+ yrs I had one. They can also be handed to Toll Booth operator to scan if needed on other lanes for whatever reason.
Just back from WEC Spa round via way of France and can now comfirm you can go thru the 'Fast Tag Lane' on the l/h side of Peage at a speed of least 25kph. Have always slowed down until it goes green, but does take a leap of faith

I mentioned this on a different thread. I set mine up last week, just register your car and then you load the account with £10 minimum. This will last me for a couple of trips. Of course if you have a co-driver then they could earn their keep by ringing and paying as you cross. Easier for me to pre pay as I'm driving alone this year.
Drove from Spain back to Le Mans yesterday and many of the tolls have changed to the "drive-thru" system at 30 kph. It works well, but please don't confuse kph with mph! Saw someone at Bordeaux picking up pieces of the barrier where he had tried to drive too quickly. As regards positioning the transponder, please don't hold it up and wave it about; it will work if you keep it still so it can be read by the camera on high. Mine is, and has been for 10 years, fixed in the screen with no problems.
