Travelling back on the Monday - A few years back I got stuck for what seemed ages queuing for the tolls at the top of the A28 at the Rouen end, so much so that the last time I went we came off at the previous junction and came back up the old N138 to avoid any queues, and it seemed to work as there were no queues to get off and even if it was a bit slower on the road we kept moving.

Having a toll tag wouldn't seem to ease the queuing as they were stuck in the general queue with all us mortals!

As it'll be a couple of years since I last went, any personal experience of the queue there on the Monday morning over the last few years as I start finalising our plans?

Ta in advance.

Why not avoid the tolls completely and just take the old road, much nicer and free

Would do if we were not time pressured to catch a ferry smile

We're going across country on the way down.

Do you or have you booked on a particular ferry? At a particular time?

We are going with P&O Dover calais and Calais Dover and have booked a Flexi ticket giving us a 4 hour window to catch either an early or later ferry from our actual allotted booking?

Not a flexible ticket I'm afraid, booked on the 14:20 departure.

The only time we've had much trouble there was the first year that stretch of peage was open when they didn't bother to put extra staff on the booths and there was a good hour of delays, never had any bother since.
