As I am sure you will be back in future years you can do different things each time as too much to do in one visit. We camp near Porsche and so set up camp on the PC viewing area to watch the start. Easier to nip back for supplies. Watch a couple or 3 hours there until the race settles down. Then head back to camp for a meal and the group will head to the village. Then usually splits up by midnight , some will watch the bands, some the racing, some Guinness tent or all 3. Wander back to camp in the small hours and decide if - option 1 Bottle of scotch and a sleeping bag at Porsche curves, option 2 cycle to Arnage 3. Black ops 4. Pass out in tent

Trouble is, the only sound now is from the Corvettes. The diesels just whisper. I'd prefer Tertre Rouge rather than the start line though.
Viper?

Also the Astons make a decent din, as do the Toyotas and and Ferraris if you are into screaming V8s. When the field is spread out a bit I like to wander down the pit straight sans ear defenders for a while to hear the individual cars go by. I am always amazed at the Audis, how can something so fast be that quiet?

We love La Suze, it is very relaxing there after being at the circuit for the day.I picked up parking Blanc ticket on here, I know we will be sat in traffic for a while just past the Expo on Saturday morning if we leave it too late. We normally arrive at around 10 ish and then head to the terrace opposite the pits, for this year we may go up closer to the Dunlop chicane and then head down to TR for a BBQ early evening, having the car in Blanc is handy for transferring gear in and out, the Expo is an option for the future though.
I like your live commentary idea, might give that a try.
Whatever works for you is best, but for sheer easy access to and from the circuit, expo is good pretty much any time of arrival. Best 'discovery' made having used one of the inside car parks for a few years.

Yeah I love la suze, been the base for a few years now. (But anyone else looking where it is... It's a smelly horrible place, you wouldn't like it!)

Usually sat outside the hotel or bar opposite most nights...

This is the first year we haven't stayed at La Suze - going to be an interesting change, although having decent beds may make up for it.
