Hi, did anyone go to the Hotel Arbor this year to watch the cars on the Mulsanne, I was hoping to get there but time was against us, maybe next year. A previous post was saying that you could pay 10 euros on the gate and watch the cars with a drink and sarny thrown in.

Yup, I'd heard of it before and this year was the first time I found it. Breakfast croissant & coffee was very welcome at 7am on Sunday smile

It's just after the 2nd chicane so cars are not at full speed there, but a great location all the same.

We went there twice; Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Entry was €10 per person and no sarny etc thrown in. It's a fantastic place to watch as just after 2nd chicane (as mentioned above) - noisy, quick and if you've a camera with a long lens, can get photos of the back-end of the cars. You also see prototypes overtaking GTs as they approach the Mulsanne kink.

Well worth the cost thumbup

Excellent, one for next year. So is it, follow the signs to Le Mans from Mulsanne 'square' and then left up the hotel drive, and pay on the gate ?

That's right. Take a right as you get to the mulsanne corner that is blocked off, then take next left.

10E is a bargain for a beer, choice of ham or cheese baguette with a great viewing area. You can usually walk upto the chicane area although this year the gendarme were moving everyone out every 30 mins or so.

Every year without fail I always see that Indy 500 pace car parked up.

Was a first time visit there for me, fantastic spot and hardly any people around!

Small impression from right in front of the hotel:

Do you think it'd be possible to get to there from Blue Nord during the race? It looks like a great place to check out.

It requires a bit of a detour but we were staying in Bleu Nord as well, it's not a problem to get there during the race.
We went round via Ruaudin.

It's a good spot but, in previous years both classic and 24 bib have been pulling folk for speed and drink .We were there for the start and a couple of hours after and had 3 visits from Gendarmerie

That'll be me. Seemed very busy on the Sunday. The sarnie deal was in operation during the race days but with Carrefour just 2 mins down the road we nipped in and out for supplies as required. The restaraunt meals they run during the race are also top class.

Hotel Arbor defo seemed busier than normal. We cycled there this year from BSJ.

Having been there at dusk on Saturday for a few years now, enjoying all it has to offer it would be nice if not TOO MANY other folks found it

Nudge nudge, know wot I mean?

It was a bit more 'organised' than usual with too much "Oi get away from the fence up there" about it, I thought

I see your point but then again...it's still fairly quiet + you can walk to the second chicane where there is literally no one during the night. Spent quite a bit of time on top of the fence there with marshalls walking past without saying anything.

Not quite sure what you mean by Terte Rouge side but FWIW it's on the outside of the circuit, walkable from Mulsanne tribune although not advisable so best to go by car

From Tertre Rouge in a car you'd have to turn right down the side of the Stella bar as you go up the ring road slip road then turn left at bottom of the hill next to bar (chemin aux Boeufs) that runs parallel with main ring road then turn right at the end to Ruaudin (Rue de Ruaudin D142) then drive through Ruaudin and down the D140 TER to Mulsanne. I take it that the hotel is the right turn about two thirds of the way down the road which appears to head for the Mulsanne Kink?

Directions are fine, only slight hiccup being that Chemin aux Boeufs is normally only one way, leading to the Stella Bar, so the official route would have you taking the ring road to the next exit and following the signs for Camping Vert until you reach the D142 (essentially 3 sides of a square) and then turn left to Ruaudinand back on the route above. Alternatively it's much easier to plead ignorance and drive through the no entry sign.

Hotel Arbor is signed off the road to Mulsanne and is the turning mentioned, entrance is down a rough track through the trees.
