Good morning.

Our group ( all PH members) attend the 24 hour every other year. 06 onwards.

Apart from the first time have always used a nice secure camp site inside the circuit.

It's only this year we found out that we will be unable to book anything until the end of this year into next year as the site and company already allocated all pitches to people who went the year before. Never had a issue before But just in case we want to look about.

Our group is a little concerned we may not get a pitch for next year so looking about and what can people recommend? looking for something secure. I did Houx annex in 2006. it was fun but having got used to a secure site and most of us taking Lotus 7 reps we have enjoyed the security of this type of camping area.

So what can others suggest. We would like to be close to the grandstands, normally have a ACO seat. Walking distance to the village.

if all else fails we would book for the classic.

Any ideas and cheers for reading.

been looking at the vids online and gave TD a call.

We used them in 2012 for the classic so would not have a issue using them again.

We used Travel Destinations at Porsche Curves a few years ago - pretty good, if a bit squeezed in - but great position for seeing the racing.... staff excellent, just a little bit of a hike to get to the main stuff ... we would use them again.

We will need 4 pitches and as 2 of our cars are only lotus 7 reps they can fit in well in a small space.

One question. Does Porsche curves TD camp site have allocated pitch sized?

We normally stay in Hunaudieres Camping which is a good 20 mins away from the grandstands and village. I think Porsche curves is a little closer

We're normally in Tertre Rouge (outside of the bend and opposite Hunaudieres) which is also secure. I'd say Porsche Curves is further by distance from the "village" and stands but probably an easier walk crowd wise except for the pinch point at the Ford Chicane.

Ive thought about Travel Destinations at the P Curves a few times, but the price and the viewing put me off.

Been to Le Mans a number of times and find the viewing there to be less than exciting. This is just a personal view as I can see others enjoy it. I have made the trek there a couple of times and never stay long.

Being secure is always relative, most of these areas are pretty open and near public enclosures. I would always lock things away as best you can, there are many cases of people having their tents turned over.

I think its best to think of where you want to be at the circuit, what has the best access, how far to have a quick view of the circuit etc etc.

I agree - its each to their own preference. I have used TD at Porsche curves twice now and am going back again next year. Site is very secure - always checking wrist bands before they let folks in and the guys are around until Monday.

This year viewing on the outside banking at the PC was only for TD customers which made it great for those of us who were there - not so great for all the locals who didn't know this and pitched up as usual only to be turned away (or the staff who had to try and explain). A spot at the end of the banking where you see them coming down from Arnage and watch the speed they carry into the curves is not something I will ever get tired of watching.

I appreciate some may want to be closer to the centre of things, but its less than a 30 min walk to the village, start / finish straight and tram stop. You can walk through the inside of the circuit past the Karting centre and still see a good bit of the circuit. It is also next to one of the bus stops for the buses out to Arnage and Mulsanne which we usually take at night. TD site has decent, if not spectacular food, a good bar and the staff are all great. Facilities are clean and well maintained. I agree its not cheap - but it suits me.

Regarding security from what I've seen all the private camping areas are much the same, by which I mean good fencing, lots of professional security staff walking the site as well as manning the gate, wrist bands always checked, etc.

My son and I did LeMans for the first time this year - used TD at Porsche curves - VERY secure and well organised. Good facilities and the TD-only viewing was very good (only at the start and finish was it more than one-deep along the top of the banking)

Incidentally, after a lot of walking, we found that the Porsche Curves banking was one of the few places where you could take photos over the top of the safety fencing - eg:

As LeMans virgins, our biggest mistake was not realising how bloody big the place is and how far Porsche Curves is away from the Village. We reckon we walked about 50km from Friday to Sunday (arrived late Thursday, left early Monday) - next time, we'll take some fold-up bikes or even electric scooters
