According to an article on dailysportscar.com and based on a Le Maine Libre article they're changing/ruining the driver's parade route now.

Looking at the route from Le Maine Libre it's going to take a load of random little back streets and miss out our usual haunt around Place de l'Eperon.

Can't imagine all the bars around there and the old town block behind l'Eperon/Rue de la Galere are very happy about it - especially the one that's hosted the official Corvette party for god-knows-how-many years.

Don't know if the tram actually runs during the parade but if they just want to take out the tunnel wouldn't 3 sides of Place de la Republique and out Rue Gambetta/Rue de Vert Galant and right on to Rue Barbier make more sense? They route already seems to be crossing and following tram lines on Avenue Francois Mitterrand.

Surely in this case, "they" are the nutters with the bombs? You can lay a lot of scorn on the ACO for small matters, but public safety will sit elsewhere...

Blimey! That wrecks my usual viewing spot! drink

Looks like instead of doing the left then immediate right in the little square before heading down towards the river, where the left was it will now turn right along the front of the town hall (or if you prefer hotel de ville smile ) to get to the Cathedral square.

Oh well, I guess people will get used to it!

The nutters with the bombs don't seem to have shown any specific affinity for roads-with-high-walls-either-side that I'm aware of, so fail to see why the "tunnel" is at any greater risk than the rest of the route - either old or new?

Terrorist safety fears doesn't make total sense?

I think a bomb threat is going to cause problems/carnage on any part of the route!!

Let alone packed circuit on sat/sun.

Impossible to police/search without intel.

It's a shame. When I have been to watch it, I liked the section down by the river.

Route looks a fair bit shorter though. Maybe better for reducing the gaps between something going past, but also less route length for people to spread out so maybe more crowded.

DON'T PANIC !!

The Parade takes a short detour just after the start at Place des Jacobins and misses out going under the tunnel for safety/security reasons as it heads back to the finish area.
The route distance is almost the same and does not go past the Town Hall (Hotel de Ville), but on the road behind it.
See the route on the Classic Automotive (the organisers, NOT the ACO) website when they post it as it's still 2015!

I hope this helps . .. my advice . . . park at the University or start from Antares and take the tram !
