My old man and I are going to the classic for the first time. We are taking my track car, chucking a tent in the back and staying at chateau Riva Sarthe with the Retro Rides lot.

Can anyone give me an idea of a nice route down avoiding the autoroutes?

Who else is going and what are you taking?

We'll be leading a bunch of Ford GTs via Portsmouth/Cherbourg ferry then cross country via Saint Lo to Flers and then picking up the A28 at Argentan to head South as we have an event to get to on Friday evening. If we had time I'd continue across to Sees and then pick up N138 South.

Depends if you're just looking for a route or to join a convoy. If the former just look at http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... or similar threads.

If you are arriving at Cherbourg, Le Havre or Caen, have a look at the route down through Domfront, Ambrieres les Vallees and Mayenne to Le Mans.
Nice easy roads and pleasant scenery.

Enjoy it which ever route you take.
