Hello Gents,

Its been asked in previous years, but will anyone be running (on their legs) the track on Friday at this years Lemans (24 hour not the classic,) and can it be done?

I know about half the track is open, and in previous years some of the langoustine lads have jogged it on the Thursday. I have seen a couple of blokes running it on the Friday before, but whether that is marshall, team member or driver is unknown.

Shall I have beer instead?

Cheer

Never thought about it, but it's a great idea!

Don't forget that it is 13,365 km... but historic kilometers they are!

Hmmm - my two lads and I certainly wouldn't be up for walking it, but seeing as we're taking pushbikes this year, I might be up for a (very) gentle amble round on two wheels....

I'm game. Thought about this last year but didn't get it sorted. Staying with TD at Porsche.

Apparently it's going to be a hot one this year so the earlier the better? Will have to remember to take it easy on the "Yay we've arrived" beers!

I recall from doing the pit walk on the Friday a couple of years ago that there were some barriers erected near dunlop and possibly some security staff - is it possible to get around the circuit on Friday?

we have run the circuit on Thursday morning for the last 6 years. It can be quite hard after a heavy Wednesday....so LOTs of water.
However, we have found that Friday is too busy on the circuit roads. By 9:30, there is already a collection gathering on the Mulsanne ready for burn outs etc. There is also much to do on Friday, so like to keep it free.
Thursday is not so manic. You can run the entire circuit including the start/finish straight. Have a rest and watch the garages for a while. On Friday morning there is another 20K people trying to do the same, so we avoid that. We start at the TL compound inside Tertre Rouge at 9:30. TL chuck in a couple of T shirts for the winners and a bucket of ice down your shorts. If you have not experienced that.. wow. Worth the run.

Please come and join in. It is a fun run and I am no Mo Farah, so a gentle 9/10 min mile.

I ran it on the Wednesday last year and you could do an entire lap no problem (past the pits etc). I'm keen to join in on the Thursday this year however I read on autosport that the public road sections of the circuit are completely closed on the Thursday this year (to give more track time to the support races) so that may cause us some problems.....

Would love to join, sadly I arrive on Thursday evening.

I get it on the Friday - it will be busy, and I'd risk getting egged by some over enthusiastic mad Friday Scandinavians.

Perhaps this won't fly, I might try a very early one (at about 0700) I assume the barriers don't go up until 0800 or maybe I should just enjoy a good few arrival beers.

Not sure a Thursday morning run will be possible as Ferrari Challange practice starts at 10am!

Oh!, yes, that does kinda scupper my plans.
Looks like an early Friday morning shuffle instead.

I will let all TLers know and will change our plans to an 8:30 start Friday.
All others welcome to join in.

We get in Wednesday night so thursday would've been ideal but I'm interested in seeing how far round I make it, never run that far and it's been a few years since my last 10k, it's just there is so much to fit in on a friday!! Is the meeting point gonna be obvious - loads of prawn flags/stickers I presume?

Pretty obvious. We are right in the corner of Tertre Rouge to Mulsanne. Big steel doors to keep the riff raff out.
Security will let anyone in shorts and running shoes in.

Hopefully see you there. 8:30 Friday morning.

Was planning on doing this Thursday but they had to go close the road. Shall try to be across Friday morning. Am only at Terte Rouge campsite so it's downhill to you!
Of course it all depends on how bad Thursday night is...

Might do this, but running isn't something I have done so will be a very gentle jog/walk!

Outstanding! I've managed a lap most years (usually on the Friday morning) but I hadn't dared turn in at Arnage corner to go through Porsche Curves and onto the 'closed' part of the track but instead run all the way outside to rejoin after Tetre Rouge. Would be well in for a proper lap and some company. Staying on Houx so will use the jog to the meeting point as a warm-up. Hopefully see you 8:30 on the Friday. Eric.

I don't think this is an invite only thing, just turn up and join in.
It looks like the TL site will be this years start/finish, so if you want a bang start and a T shirt if you win, then that's where to be at 8:15 for 8:30 start. If you don't care about that, then join us as we pass.

As said already, security will let you into the TL site on Friday morning, so we'll meet at the marquee.

I presume if we join in as you guys pass, then we can carry on at the end back round to our campsite.

Think thats a plan!

Don't see why not.
Lots of nutters driving lethal weapons on the Mulsanne on a Friday though. One reason why we are starting a little earlier. You won't be running back down until 10 oclock. Might be worth driving to us and park up at the stadium or McDonalds.
