If this does continue, and I guess would only apply to the open sites without security, fuel theft could be an issue.
You mean those unmanned sites that require you to scan a debit/credit card before you fill up?
No,I was thinking if it continues through the Le Mans week, theft of fuel from your vehicle while at the campsite.

IIRC, there were incidents reported during the fuel blockades over here in 2000 ....

Someone has already quoted bits of this but looks like it's easing. Also sounds like half the problem was people flapping and panic buying!

My Focus ST wouldn't even make it on at a tank unless I drove at 55. 275 mile range at 80 mph.
Really? My Volvo S40 T5 with the same engine will do over 40mpg on the motorway.

One of our crew is taking a caravan so I'm thinking of taping up the doors and windows, filling it with 98 octane and selling it to other PHers! Purely for philanthropic reasons of course ;-)

I've got problems in my JCW Cooper S. Even a Eco run will only give me 300 to a tank.
And with the limited boot space it's going to be a choice of tent or spare fuel.

Was looking forward to the trip, but now having to do the trip solo and the fuel problems, I'm very tempted to cancel the trip

Drove from London -> Beaune yesterday and no issues getting petrol whatsoever on the motorways. No queues, all fine. Strangely enough though ran into pretty bad weather just before Dijon - including snow on the motorway at 16c.

Father in law is in France at the moment not far from LeMans and has said it's already passing, he's had no issues getting any amount of fuel over the last couple of days so think by the time we all set off it will be fine.

Brim in blighty and assess the situation over there! thumbup

You'll be fine.... can you see the French Government not pushing fuel into the Le Mans area at the time of their biggest motorsport event of the year?.... no me neither...so long as you have enough fuel to get to Alencon..you can fill there...likewise on the way back to Baie de Somme.... Stiff Upper Lip Chap...onwards and upwards...

I've arrived in Caen having driven from Calais. There are no queues and every station I've passed has been open with no restrictions on amount that can be purchased.

Indeed. If not tongue-in-cheek, probably one of the most pathetic things I've read this week.

Everything is normal now, I've filled up 3 times today. The only queues are caused by people who refuse to believe that the hose will stretch to the other side.

We drove from North of Paris to the Mediterranean yesterday, no problems on the Autoroute 1 service station had a 30€ limit though.
Took the opportunity at Folkestone to fill a Jerrycan before we crossed just in case.
More concerned that its a bit cloudy todaybiggrin

It is a bit of sarcasm on my part. It won't be a problem as I'm only taking a small tent.

But joking aside I can't see it being a problem by that time. But will take a spare can of fuel just to be on the safe side.
And if the worse happens I will go to La Winchester, have a nice cold pint and wait for all of this to blow over

There is nothing to blow over. Don't take a spare can - it's pointless. If I hadn't seen the news before I got here, I'd never know there had been any issue at all.
