No not me, for the first time in many years I am missing LM due to work.

Just spoken to my mate and he was stopped at 120 south of Rouen in his DB9.

800 euro fine and banned from driving in France until his license physically returns to the UK. He was also breathalysed and before they let him go they also needed to see proof the second guy in the car was insured to drive.

I sent him a text yesterday morning warning him not to press the pedal too far, shame he didn't read it!

As we all know the roads in France are lovely and inviting and I though we learnt our lesson when I got stopped at 145mph in almost the same place (but I only got 90 euro fine!)

Any others been caught?

I got a ticket yesterday for doing 79km/h in a temporary 50 limit near Arnage corner. €90 fine. My fault for not spotting it I guess. Policeman couldn't have been friendlier in truth.

Can't believe this still happens. Surely speeding on the way to/from Le Mans is as well known a no no as leaving your dog st on the pavement by now?

Beware a lot of activity north of Rouen (in the last bit of the 110 zone) and then south of Abbeville near the attached. Obviously don't speed or your mate will end up driving like mine currently is

+1
Actually embarrassing this is such easy pickings for Les Gendarmes.

One advantage of going in a Transit Van is it struggles to exceed the speed limit, that said I did put the foot down in a few spots.

Those lovely long winding empty motorways are very inviting, but with an €800 fine it's worth going gently!

As long as it's only the gendarmerie causing you troubles on the way home and not the migrant attack at calais!

Strange how the Transit van often becomes the fastest thing on UK roads.......hehe

Only saw 1 person really going for it, and that was on the Wednesday on the way down: a young lad giving it some beans in a 911.

Driver of a BMW was getting a talking too at the end of a toll road

Other than that it was a spirited drive at times but not too silly: hardly spotted any police except for 1 point where there was a large group hidden from view off road; kudos to the french lorry driver for warning everyone heading in that direction..

We had a charming bit of service in a rather unofficial mini convoy heading down towards St Lo. 110kmh limit on that stretch, we might have crept up towards the 130 mark but no more. Unmarked car with blues on pulled level with each of us and a friendly 'calm down' hand gesture with a big smile was issued.

Thank you Sir! Message received and understood smile

Way too wet to be doing anything above the speed limits coming back on Monday, no way I was going to risk aquaplaning (light car and wide tyres) - unlike some poor sod I saw in a pale gold 911 that had wiped its front and back end off north of Rouen (I think). Might not have been weather/speed related as it was just before a single lane stretch over a viaduct, could well have been evasive maneuvers after he was cut up - the French didn't seem to be too shy with either that and/or tailgating!

Spotted that poor sod too. However, given the speed that he passed our group at, it's probable that it did contribute to the accident.

There was a speed trap (camouflaged gendarme) about 50 clicks from Calais on Monday, the only one I saw. Conveniently placed looking at a downhill stretch of 110/130 autoroute. It was raining, so in theory 110. Saw a written off black 911 convertible on the way back on brit plates. Looked like a side impact as wheels were at a very odd angle as it sat on the recover truck. Hope occupants were OK?

Yeah, saw the camo police, (proper Ray Mears, look like a bush type stuff), pointing the camera down the autoroute, with about 10 motorcycle police waiting for their victims in the layby. Very light rain at the time, never know if that's still reduced speed or not ? but no-one followed me, I guess I was at 115'ish, so probably after bigger, and much faster fish.

Any rain is reduced speed.

Ta, thanks for the confirmation, that reduction from 50 to 30 in town feels reeeally slow.

Saw that one and for the second year running the police came out behind me. Both times heart in mouth but on both occasions they have been going for someone else and escort them off the motorway.

However may have been flashed by a camera in one of the 110 sections, although suspect it was flashing the car in front of me.

I heard someone say they had passed an Aston in the barriers on the way down with the rear end hanging off, suspected aqua planing. Got to feel for anyone who crashes on the road trip

We saw an Aston with passenger side front impact. Clearly aquaplaned in heavy Thursday showers. Apparently there is a 17km stretch of smooth tarmac on A28 which is causing several cars a month to aquaplane off it if it rains hard.
There were a lot of cars bareling too hard through the worst of the rain in my opinion.
