I've never camped at the circuit and don't feel I have really missed out to be honest.
Trust me, you're missing out. Some of my favourite non-racing LM moments have involved sitting around a BBQ with a few beers and my closest friends. The camaraderie on some sites (bsj excluded) is something very special.
There is no right or wrong in terms of which option someone takes at Le Mans, everyone has their own preferences.
For me though, I have no regrets in all the years of attending that I feel I have missed out. I've camped off site for LM and at sites for Grand Prix. The GP camping gave me a very good idea of what to expect.
I don't want to worry about which pitch I'm given, sharing my space with the odd cretin who attends the race, living off bbq, shared wash facilities, theft, no sleep, taking all the assorted camping gear. Plus when you read some of the stuff on here, it does nothing to tempt me.
For 60 euro a night, I have B&B in someone's house in a nice village, secure parking, secure accomodation, shops, restaurants and a 15 min drive to the circuit, coming and going when I please. This for me, is my ideal LM set up.
For some, this isn't fun or their cup of tea and the camping adds to their experience. But that is the beauty of Le mans, there are so many different ways to enjoy your own experience of the event.
Oh come on if you go camping you're unlikely to be in the company of the class of person who knows how to behave or is remotely bothered about others.
Camping equates to freedom of expression, a do as you please liberation especially for those uncomfortable in formal civilised surroundings where regard & respect for those around them is required.

You have clearly not experienced Team Langoustines site at tertre rouge, a very nice behaved site.Camping equates to freedom of expression, a do as you please liberation especially for those uncomfortable in formal civilised surroundings where regard & respect for those around them is required.
our campsite at Tertre Rouge is a very pleasent place to stay, yes there are noisy bits but unlike the other sites you choose where you pitch and if it is not to your liking you can move, but in general everyone is considerate and understanding and most happy to share a cold beer when you arrive and several more over the week. The average age might not suit teenagers but then we were that age many years ago

That's so wrong to say we Le Mans campers lack class.
