I'm planning to go for the first time next year... laugh

Is there any trouble in the PH/AMOC campsite?

Trip 11 for me, and one of the best, great racing, track changes at Arnage really added alot to that from a viewing point, as I spend all my time at the Mulsanne/Arnage corners, other than race start, to around 1900 hrs at the Grandstand on Saturday.

One of the worst trips home ever, with all the delays at the port, rain, but seems like it was alot worst for some, as we didn't see any rock throwing etc, just lorries being opened up to see if they could be boarded, and stuff being taken out of them !!

Back next year, yes.

I've just "provisionally" booked for 2017.. haven't been since 2006 (we got fed up with yobs and Danes setting fireworks off over your tent at 3am). There was a noticeable change in the public campsites over the years before, perhaps just getting older. But I can't resist and going back for next year, but have made the decision that it's the Travel Destinations private campsite. Looks a good option.

1. Travel Destinations is a great choice. Their private slice on the outside of the start of Porsche Curves is fantastic.
2.. The track can be very close, so if you love the thunderous Corvette ringing in your ears, this is the place.
3. Live band on Friday/Saturday in the tent is great but remember it runs till late.
4. Their night time security do police anyone being too rowdy after midnight/1pm.

Been there for the last 3 years, its not perfect but it sounds a damn sight better than most of the other options and pretty much the same price as the likes of Speed Chills etc. Even if it was crapper I would still pay the premium for that trackside viewing

So you're essentially having a strop because the weather was bad and you queued for the ferry?

A different route (Dunkirk if you're on a budget) and an off-circuit campsite would cure 99% of the sand in your crevice.
I think you are missing the point slightly......the issues at Calais were unpleasant at best.
Definitely not missing the point.
I spent an hour right in the middle of a pitched battle between riot police and Sangatte 'residents', tear gas and all. We swerved around debris in the road and watched young men attacking lorries.

It's just that I'm not enough of a queen to let it ruin my whole trip.

Can't recommend T/D @ Porsche Curves enough. Great site, run by a fantastic group of people.

It may be worth you going back to my original post and reading it again....or reading it in the first place....or even reading it properly!

I gave numerous reasons why 'for me' I may not come back. You are entitled to have your own reasons for going. It's called having an opinion.

I'm surprised you were not out of your car (assuming you were in your own car, which I doubt) and helping the French police calm things down!!

Your final comment sums you up, where you associate my dislike of a bad situation with me being gay, assuming that's what you mean with your homophobic 'queen' reference.

It's a shame you couldn't post something worthwhile like all the others that responded.

I did 2010 and it was brilliant, good weather for the most part and with good mates, we were all pretty young at the time late teens and early 20s. We acted like children and the racing was good, we saw plenty of it, mad Friday was brilliant. I remember the cars, first time I saw them was in the evening. It was a hot day and I remember climbing the bank and seeing the LMP/GT cars breaking into the corner and stting fire all over the track coming down gears it was electrifying. Have some good memories from that trip including my mate getting banned driving at 145+ The journey there and back was great. Great memories.

I did 2015 as well with the same group, now grown up and the guys I went with have changed a lot in those 5 years. Not more mature or anything but just completely different people. The trip was st, weather was poor, it cost me the best part of £1000 all in for 4 stty days I think and I came back swearing Id never go again, barely saw any racing. Best memories of that trip was driving Surrey to Hull (to get the ferry over with group) then realizing I left my passport back in Surrey. The mistake only cost me £20 for a Five Guys in London, the train back cost me nothing thanks to the parents and I blagged a lift off a guy in our group from a local station and traveled via the tunnel. I laugh about it now....

Looking forward I want to do F1 with a different group of people next year, and maybe some day N24 with said group some day. Dont think I will return to Le Mans ever again.

If you haven't got a decent point to make, resort to playing the man (rather than the ball).

You sound like one of life's moaners, for whom nothing will ever be quite good enough or as good as "it used to be".

If you want to dodge the point of your whiny attitude by assuming that me calling you a "queen" is homophobic, that's fine. But it's not.

I've only been twice (and with 4 years gap between those trips) but I'd always taken the noise, drunken behaviour, partying, traffic etc etc etc as part and parcel of the event. There are over 250,000 people at Le Mans, not all of them are going to be going for the same reason as me, nor hold the same morals regarding bedtimes, alcohol consumption, and stty trance music...
Unfortunately if you want a quieter / safer / more security conscious campsite you have to go private, if you want a petrol fuelled Glastonbury experience go for the normal campsites. From watching historic Le Mans footage the drunken / loutish behaviour has always been there, maybe its just our perception of it has changed if we're not part of it any more.
FWIW I cant wait to go back, Its always been about the racing first, the other experiences are just extras. Early hours Sunday morning, sun peeping over the trees, RLM on the headphones, super strong coffee in hand, and still the cars and drivers go round, and around, and around, and around...

I think I made quite a view valid points that many posters have agreed with or at the least have suggested alternative ideas without resorting to name calling.

I suspect you are only ok for people to have an opinion as long as it's the same as yours!

Also you must be a bit of a dinosaur if you still think it's ok to refer to someone as a queen, but heyho, happy days and all that. I'm sure there will be another poster along shortly that you can disagree with, although you may want to moderate the name calling slightly!!
