Le Mans camping Houx
Discussion
Mine have arrived from Travel Destinations.
Shows Rang 39 Place 14
Not quite sure what that means. I see there is an area 39. Would it be the 14th pitch on that area?
The maps I have have each individually numbered.
...Or is it the number at the top? 421?
Looking again it's Rank/section 39, pitch 14.
That doesn't seem to explain where pitch 14 is though unless there are some updated maps somewhere.
Not sure how yours works Insight

Looking at this, I think you're right near the entrance.

The map linked is out of date - they changed the rang / place bits when they did the electricity.
The bad news is I only have a fraction of the current map, but the good news is that you can see the methodology of the place numbers - so you're 2 rows away from us, in the leafy bit nearer chermin aux boueufs and further from the pissy wall.
Bogs in the middle are the yellow squatters of peril. Good for a laugh, but if you want a sit down, use the portakabin ones nearer the entrance.
Power is "big blue" camping, or daisy chain via adaptors and leads.

Can anyone please help point me in the right direction of block 48, pitch number 2? I can't seem to match it up with any site maps?
You're in luck - I've put a map fragment above and your pitch is on it. Block just down from the portakabin, near the electricity. That bit never floods and has low through traffic, so should be nice as long as there's no bog whiff drifting your way..Some Gump said:

Aye, you're just under the main entrance from chermain aux boeufs. Go in, turn left, you're looking at your pitch. Nice and leafy that end, which is great this year because a cat tells us it'llbe scorchio.
There's a bar / jambon beurre type place in the middle, near the yellow squat block of peril.it's marked on the big map someone else posted above. I think there's more near the other entrance, but never really had to check.
Best thing about houx is the electric tho - bring a fridge (Gumtree) and you can BBQ much better food than the vendors for 1/6 of the price. Also cold beer.

Fridge sorted from previous years, normally connected to a gas bottle but the electric hook up is a much more convenient option!

?What's the pitch size like on houx
Same as everywhere else. 5mx7m. In Houx you may be restricted parking your car next to the tent due to the few trees that are left, even though they don`t tend to include them in a pitch.Does also depend on what day you get there as you may find a lone camper smack bang in the middle of your place (even though they are numbered) who takes a lot of persuasion to move. You should be Ok `til Thursday lunchtime and then......................................

As for the "lone camper"....... a 6ft tall ex 'quins rugby player who's coming with me says he could be persuaded to move
