Hoping to not miss this years race as will be our 10th trip but work and other commitments rule out our usual weds to Monday. Looking at getting Friday lunch time tunnel to hit camping early evening which seems doable albeit slow getting in through Beausejour roundabout antics. Return Sunday evening for tunnel 10-11pm. Would plan to leave about 5pm when things died down a bit. Does this work in a modern vehicle ? ( leave the old Vw camper at home this year)

I did this a couple of years ago in a MK2 Golf. Steady and no bother, you should be fine.

Made very good progress back to the ferry via Yvetot and caught up others that had bolted at the flag.

i would assume you are doing autoroute down and back,if so i would suggest going past the Le Mans turn off instead getting off at Ecommoy, then drive back up to Mulsanne and if the track is still open drive down to indianapolis and on to porsche curves, and find your campsite from there, thereby missing the queues in Le Mans itself and the Friday Lunacy that goes on at the track,
what has also worked for us is to watch the last couple of hours from Mulsanne corner, when finished drive down to Ecommoy
and jump on the autoroute there, and miss all the race traffic trying to get out of circuit,
as i say its worked for us

Biggest issue may well be the campsite... Some of them (BJS) now oversell.

My serious suggestion - try and team up with a group who are arriving earlier, ensure they have your pass details, have tape and poles and are ready to defend your space...

Thanks for advice. Going in we normally skirt to the south west and in via Arnage ( which just spell checked to Armageddon) but there is no way to avoid Friday evening beausejour roundabout. Will get advance party to tape off a dry patch. Now coming home Monday morning so much more civilised
