Next year will be better with the new ginetta p1-l programme. Take my hat off to bykolles for carrying on without any competition this year.

It will be Audi's loss..

The last few years races have been excellent.

It's a pity but there's always plenty of entertainment in the other classes.

LMP2 produced some stunning races towards the end of last year.

There's been plenty of years not too long ago when there were lots more than 6 P1 cars entered but lots fewer than 5 that had a chance of winning though. It'll still be ace.

P2 is a one make formula now with just some re badging to fool some.

Make Le Mans a GT only race I say.

I don't, there's nothing wrong with GT only races, but there's nothing in them to match the staggering performance of the prototypes (not that Le Mans is the best place to see just what they can do)

Quite, plenty of GT stuff to watch, Blancpain, British GT, International GT series etc etc.

The difference in seeing LMP1/2 v GT cars is part of the attraction.

Especially when you see how quick this years LMP2s are. Absolutely rapid.

I agree above plenty GT only stuff around which is great, Love the prototypes at Le Mans just wish there was 20 cars fighting for the win rather than a handful.
Really hope they sort P1 class out to make it possible for privateer teams to mount a serious attack for a win. OK its always going to be difficult to beat factory/factory backed teams but there is ,No chance of a repeat like Rondeau anytime soon.

No it's not.

P2 this year looks bloody marvelous. I love that the gets are there, but its the prototypes that get me most geed up for LM.

Motorsport News quote....so it must be true....wobble....."10 cars, all of which are the same, just in different colours, or with Alpine stickers and a different name"

I have no direct knowledge of this.

That's true for the full WEC season, there's more variety for Le Mans

What are the chances of a P2 winning ?

Pretty slim. The p2 grid is expected to be roughly last years lmp1 pace. We saw at Silverstone, spa and another (forget which) that a hobbled full fat p2 could generally still beat a rebellion.

IMO you'd need all 5 factory cars to have fairly major issues to get a P2 win. I'm presuming Kolles have issues as normal - new engine, lack of track time means they are doing a far harder challenge than most.

Yes, it is a shame about the LMP1 & Audi pull out , but I've always had more interest into GT class and LMP2 anyhow. I Just hope they don't try to regulate the wonderful sounding Corvettes, Aston's etc, into dull and quiet sounding hybrids!
