Ferry tickets, yep I'll be taking a printout of the online booking but to be honest you don't have to. I've turned up before with nothing and they've just looked it up for me. As long as the credit card matches they're fine about it, and you're going to have a passport with you anyway.

Gazebo - the 10 day forecast is showing the possibility of a little precipitation, not that a 10 day forecast is worth paying much attention to. The only problem is that neither me nor any of my camping buddies can put the damned thing up. After 2 days last year another one of my mates took pity and put it all together in 5 minutes, but unfortunately he's in Maison Blanche this year. If there are any Gazebo-Meisters in Beausejour this year please would you head in the direction of the swearing and give us a hand!

Sandals - well up-the-dubs I can't say that in most circumstances that this is my favourite footwear but this is the only sensible option and this is what most people will be wearing. Don't forget that it can become very hot and you typically do a lot of walking. Consider yourself to have an "uber gay" dispensation when at LM.

Surely not ?

A ridiculous indulgence if ever there was one.

I've not shaved for the last 10 days in preparation for looking like a tramp for the entire duration of the trip and not just the journey home!

I'm always a little concerned that about the possibility of being mistakenly identified as an environmentalist or an anti-car lobbyist and hence attempt to shave now and again. It would be pretty funny if for the only time all year you were sporting what I believe is known as a "beard" and you bumped into Jeremy Clarkson!

But i drive a Morris Minor so I can get away with it! I'll also be wearing a pistonheads t-shirt or one with a cheese eating surrender monkey on the back.

Well that lot will go in the glove box then (except maybe the large grin), leaving plenty of boot space for bringing 'du vin' back.

What about tent and sleeping bag? or are you just going to crash wherever?

oh yeah, err is this the wrong time to wonder where i'm kipping?

I am actually bringing a sleeping bag now having been persuaded that it would be a good idea..

but the tent? I guess I should see if I can borrow one from a friend

Shall we not need to shave when dining in the evening? If so, won't one actually require a shaving brush, soap, dish and suitable razoring device?

Am I better off, leaving my Ted Baker and Gucci shirts at home for this visit?

It is important not to shave for at least the duration of the trip and preferrable for some days before. Otherwise one does not build up enough beard from which to carve the comedy shapes that have become a tradition with our posse.

I usually go for a bit of a 'Lemmy' while others are known to prefer such designs as 'the reverse goatie', 'the Eddie Jordan' or the 'looks remarkably like my wifes pu??y'!!

That could be dangerous if you wake up next to your mate in a tent and you're too pissed to actually tell the difference.

May I recommend one of these?

A Kath Kidston floral print from Millets, apparently very 'now'.
