we all waxed ours, i dont think it is essential but if you have the time its worth doing, if not just givethem a good clean to get rid off all the road scum, you might need to give them a good clean when you return to get rid of all the marks but you have to do that anyway to get rid off all the bugs and dust!!!

Looks great guys, but I am a little worried in putting these on my paint work as it was resprayed before and might come off when removing the vinal, or is their a low tack vinal? like masking tape.

aslong as your paint has had tome to cure for a few weeks you should be fine, we have the lo grade vinal im told it should just peel off when we get home with no damage to the cars

Yep our vinyl doesn't look too sticky either - just sticky enough. It really doesn't take much to stick something thats completely flush with the bodywork anyhow

How easy are they to get off afterwards.
Or are they meant as a permenant fixture.

Can someone elaborate on the washing up solution application method please?

Are we saying you soak the panel in said solution prior to applying the vinyl (and so wetting the adhesive area of the vinyl) and then squeegee out the water? And it still sticks? Does this help with positioning once the vinyl is on the car?

Slightly lost here, sorry

Thanks

Just thoroughly wet the bodywork with soapy water, then apply the sticker as normal. Use a squeegee to get the water out from under the stripes, and they stick in place without a problem. Allow 24 hours for them to dry fully before any "spirited" driving.

You might have to wait 30 mins or so for the water to dry to get the ends of the stripes stuck down, especially if they wrap over sharp curves or edges.

Do the normal PH stickers have the same problem? My mum has blankly refused to let me put any stickers on the car, so they are going on in the first service area we come to

I have a couple of the Pistonheads.com white stickers and some Tyresmoke.net vinyls, just wondering about the viynls and whether it is worth putting them on or not. Will it be too much hassle wetting the car etc etc in the services?

Ben - normal stickers will be fine. The 'soapy water' method is best when you have to make sure things like stripes/sunstips are straight.

Admire your spirit re your mum! Just make sure you give it a wash before returning it - or she'll see the outline of your stickers in dust!

Just to add my few words (I'm the celica with stripes), anything over the surface area of A4 I would think about soapy water, or if you really have to get it straight.

Also ENSURE you have a seal on the leading edge of the stickers, to ensure the wind won't rip them off, or lift them, this also goes for the corners.

(Please don't ask me where to get a seal from).

Also alwasy take some stickers for your mates car who does not want stickers on his car, or forgot them.

Luckily she is out tonight so the car is already stickered up suitably. I can easily whip off the PH sticker from the bumper and re-apply it in the morning

Doing our vipers and side flames tomorrow night on the mondeo. Just given it a coat of polish which will help.

Been advised to use water with a little washing up liquid in a plant sprayer thing, so as to put a fine mist on the panel before applying, so less water to get rid of.

Look out for a red BMW and a black Mondeo in MB covered in graphics! I think i maybe adding more stickers in the queue for the ferry at Dover on Weds morning!

One more quick Q – I take it driving in the rain poses no problem for correctly applied vinyl graphickery?

How about washing the car with vinyl applied?

I’m assuming both are fine but want to ask as I have no spares!

Washed mine a couple of time now with the stripes on and no problems about them lifting at the edges. I will see how they get on through the inevitable french rain.

Polished the car first, put the stickers on, then gave the lot a good waxing.

Have a safe trip everybody, only one more day in work befor the off....

I know this is a stupid question but where do you get your stickers from? - BTW they look great.

Just ordered a couple of sets from this guy - link to ebay ad. V helpful - he is posting them 1st class tomorrow.

At £6 a set its got to be worth it. Don't bother buying through ebay just mail him on sean@stripesandgraphics.co.uk and tell him I sent you.

Just ordered some from this guy, bloody good service and all. Hope they arrive
