......where is it then?

Loads of bollox about Michellin, FIA, F1 blah, blah, blah

Anything about Tom Kristensen winning Le Mans 7 times? The biggest motor race in the world? Corvette beating Aston? Audi winning? Corvettes finishing 5th and 6th overall?

Nope. nothing.......

The press in this country sucks.

Absolutely. Took my kids to Tennis on Sunday, settled down with a coffee, and the Sunday Times Driving and Sport supplements, thinking "time for a bit of a catch up".
Plenty on F1, plenty on the elastic used in some Russian tarts knickers, and plenty on a bunch of overpaid lager louts playing footie, but sweet FA on LeMans, or any other motorsport.
Sometimes, its like looking through a pair of loo rolls reading this countries press. Do you suppose this is how the lentilists feel, as not everyone wants to ban everything straight away?

this gets me every year....

like 2003 when bentley won with its historic and well achieved 1,2 finish in front of 80,000 brits and the press did....

zilch zippo nadda.

looked at bbc website yesterday expecting to see something in sport section but nope.

This is an event that has many, many years of british history involved in it, an event that has a bigger following than F1 but there's still nothing!!!!!

Still that wont put me off, I'll be there next year.

I was in the press office at the race and every nation seemed to be covered there from the folks I met - tons of French, A coupe of Russians and a Korean etc.. - could I find another Brit - nope. Rueters did have an office there but all I've seen so far was the small pieces that were in the newspapers yesterday morning. Pathetic.

there were actually plenty of brits, including dailysportscar, mainly up at the far end of the press room. I agree printed media (and most internet) coverage was abysmal, but without blowing the dsc trumpet too hard, think we did a great job

Yep, Le Mans is the best kept secret in British motorsport. Long may it stay that way, because it'll continue to be easy to get ferry tickets, a camp site, etc.

Having been to many motor events around the world, I have to say that nothing compares to the spirit and atmosphere of Le Mans - not just during the race but before and after.

Not sure Le Mans is that well kept a secret, especially this year the traffic was horrendous....2 hours Saturday morning from Arnage to Karting etc.....

250,000 people there is a lot by any standards and the roads around the circuit are like silverstone used to be i.e. pathetic.

I seem to recall RLM saying the ACO had recorded 30% higher ticket sales this year?
