I think if you want to camp in Bleu you have to turn up earlier than Friday now, we got there at 2pm on Friday but had our mates save us a spot, they got there on Tuesday . As for toilets and showers, take them with you, its the only way to get a decent shower or s##t. I’ll give it another three years and it won’t be worth going to anymore as they would’ve ruined it.

Was in Tertre Rouge and REALLY liked it - preferred it much more to Houx, however being right next to the track and the funfair made sleeping difficult. Fortunately I found alcohol was an efficient solution to the problem (as my friends who pulled me, near unconcious, out of the pool will agree)!!

PS. Great livery on your car!

Houx was a nightmare - some pikey ers camped opposite to us (who didn't leave their caravan once to see ANY racing). They decided to have some fireworks and let some of their 10 children (I kid you not) organise the display. It was like Bagdad on new years eve! A mortar tipped over and went into our camp at about head height and exploded (two or three times). Car got burnt, tent is full of holes and Claire got her back burned by the explosion.

That sounds like seriously bad luck.

I would have been tempted to go and buy fireworks, and let them off aiming it at them, starting your very own mini war! Bearing in mind how rubbish the French are at anything with a military outcome, they'd surely run away crying in no time at all!!

PS. May I just take this opportunity to point out that I am "The" pikey, not "A" pikey (to whom you are referring).

Stayed in Beausejour this year and it was excellent. We were in the second field (arrived Thursday afternoon) and it was pretty civilised. Had a decent pitch far enough off the roadway to avoid mass dusting, room for BBQ and pool

Hell of a walk from there to Tetre Rouge though (back at 4am was a killer!).

not as nice as camping in one of the chateaus last year but better for the action and atmosphere.

Personally I had a fab time, we were on MB and yes there were some problems and it was noisy - particuarly the tosser who took to racing round the camp site at around 4am one morning (lost track of which day it was). It was noisy - the first lot of mortars that went off nearly gave me a heart attack but I've developed the art of sleeping in ear plugs and ear defenders and can whole heartadly recommend it

We did remark on Sunday that the camp site was lovely but it was a shame that someone couldn't keep all the pesky cars quiet - it was so difficult to relax into one's gin and tonic

I think if you're going to LM you have to accept it will be noisy, hot and dirty - you're going for the race and the company not the facilities. Having said that the mobile showers and toilets on MB were very good, they were always clean, they didn't smell and always had loo roll in them. The ladies did well there was never really a queue for us - the gents often had to queue - but if you all spent a little less time in the trap boys perhaps the queue would move a little quicker!!

Traffic wise - we left around 2pm yesterday after having stopped at Auchan to get some shopping and some lunch. We took the old road to Alecon and it was fine - we queued though the section at Sees and then diverted off of the N138 and came cross country. Rouen was a bit busy when we got to it at 6ish but wasn't too much of a problem. We always allow at least 6 hours for coming back on the Monday as it's always busy - unsurprisingly really considering the number of people leaving and heading for the ferry ports.

I guess as with many things in life it depends on your outlook on life - personally I always look for the positives and take pleasure from the small things in life - like sitting on the campsite at 6.30 am yesterday morning before most people were stirring, drinking coffee, listening to the birds and the noise of the wind in the trees. Sod the fact that I hadn't slept very well for a week - I wouldn't miss it for the world.

KN was heaving by the time we got to it at 7:30pm on Thursday. Only one slot left big enough for our huge army tent. Pissed us off a bit that AIRTRACK took over 1/2 of KN but we nicked some of their brolleys protecting the genny outside their bog complex.

Traffic this year was a complete nightmare, back to wednesday next year I thinks. Can't wait for the Rouen - Alencon Peage to open either thats gonna slice 2hours of the journey at least.

Don't let bad camping put you off just aim to get their earlier next year, which of course gives you more drinking time

As a Le Mans virgin I found the whole event fantastic and had no problems with camping nor traffic. We were in Technoparc and arrived at 9pm on Thursday. I was a bit concerned that it was a free for all for space and seemed 90% full. We did get a good space and found that afterwards everyone squeezed up to get later arrivals in. All very civilized with a decent Karzi and a great atmosphere. It was fun without being excessive and was mainly brits. I'll be booking there again for next year (but will be trying to get there a bit earlier on thursday to be safe).

After the insanity of the run down from Alencon which was (Yellow Ultima passing trucks on S bends!)we headed back up on empty Autoroutes through Paris to a Hotel in Arras. It was cheap, nice and was next door to a Leffe bar which didnt seem to want to close .
Fantastic weekend and sorry to hear not all had a great time.

Stayed at maison Blanc this year for the first time and have to admit to being a litle disappointed, not enough toilets/showers etc and the best pitch we ould find was very congested and you had to stand on guard to prevent your access out being blocked, can you pre book several pitches adjacant in Houx or is it allocation on arrival, almost killed one of my rear tyres carrying a bloody heavy generator down there, do all piches have access to electric or is a gene still a requirement ?

Houx is reckoned to be the best, and it's an absolute shithole I would hate to see the others!!!

And loud music until 2am, fine, I can handle that, but at 4.30am? I was getting mightily pissed off!

But, the pitches are good, and it is a fairly short walk to trackside.

Anyway, who gives a damn, five days of being dirty, hot and unshaven, without sleep, its all part of the experience.

Nothing like getting home to a hot bath and your own toilet seat eh?

Your car was looking great !! panel meet tyre wall !

What music was playing till 4:30 ?

I was told I was up till 4ish on Friday night, but I was talking so much rubbish the guys on our site did not want me to shut up, they were laughing too hard,

I usually find if you shout 'keep the noise down' can work as most people are friendly.

I dont think the music was coming from any PH'ers, so for those who have owned up and offered an apology, no need. Anyway, even if it was you, so what, still no apology needed, i'm only an old fart having a minor moan. It was early Monday morning coming from the vicinity of the orange VW camper van near the Cafeteria.

Funny, the car noises from the race were great, didnt mind that at all, not the 'wrong' type of noise that

Corvettes at 4.30am when the race was on

Kevins pumping Ibiza shite mix at 4.30am on the Monday when the rest of the camping was trying to get some shut eye for the hoon back

Join club 24. You can use the toilets and showers under the ACO grandstand. It's well worth the fee just for that. I managed to have a shave and a proper hot shower every morning this year

We paid a bit more for the Airtrack VIP campsite and it was pretty good. Loads of room, nice people around us, good bar, toilets and showers were ok to bad, depending on what time you used them, but will probably book there again next year as it was very secure 24hrs and had to have a wrist band to get past the nasty dog and guard at the gate.

As for traffic, not sure why but had a free run down and back to London, didnt get stuck in any traffic in Le Mans, Arnage etc at all and didnt get done by any coppers.

Must have done something right the week before. Awsome trip !

Have to say there was no problem with my old man’s Hymer, with supplies of water and electric and a clean shower/toilet block 2mins walk away on 6b ( seriously there are some things money can’t buy)

Having said that my mates on Houx Annex had a whale of a time, arrived on Wednesday evening, acceptable loos and showers all weekend and not too far from that action. Other than the heat the only thing that bothered them was the silver ‘buishi with the reg like JOHN F who’d owner thought it a good idea to see how long it could bounce off the rev limiter for all night.

Seems they were not alone as some less restrained people provided a carpet of glass around it the next morning. How much the lads did laugh as the remains of the car were taken away on a low-loader.

I was in Houx Annex too and I was pleasantly (very) surprised by the facilities... Massive improvement over last time I went in 2001, perfectly serviceable showers and loos kept in reasonable condition all week. Got there on Wednesday and so avoided the problems people had finding a spot, group moved in next to us on Friday and things got a bit cramped, but certainly no real problem. I really suffered with the sun though, could have used a bit more shade back at base. Have to take a huge gazebo next year

We stayed at a small town south of the track about 20 minutes away and had a great time there. Highlight was the local car show on Friday night where an Aston Martin DBR1, Jag D Type and a Fezza 250 TR turned up , oh and a load of other stuff.
