Its looks to me that those mobile chicanes (the trucks) on the n138 may be absent on the drive to le mans next year. The map we bought for the journey had showed an autoroute in construction that roughly follows the N138. This seemed to be confirmed by quite alot of road works etc. Does anyone know any more about this?

According to my road map it should have been finished this year. I understand it will be in time for LM2006.

It will be Peage all the way up to Rouen.

Not a lot, other than they seem to have been building it since I started going to Le Mans in '86! It'll be done one day, but I wouldn't hold your breath for next year I'm afraid.

Now if only they'd build a bypass around Rouen, that would really help! Missed the boat trying to get through there. Might invest in a better map for next year!

The full length of new road is opening in December - I don't know why they didn't do it in sections though.

We dumped the N138 at Sees on the way back and made our way back through Liseux, Honfleur, Pont du Normandy etc and although still missing the crossing, got from Alencon to Calais in four hours.

As for the autoroute, it seems blacked off pretty much every where you can see it, junctions in and only really missing barriers etc so the 06 timeline looks hopeful.

Lets hope so!!!
