Was anyone on here the person in the Red RS4 Avant??

It went past me like I was in reverse on the road from Rouen to Le Mans and I was doing 150kph - anyway 2 miles down the road he was getting a very stern looking lecture from a Gendarme !!

If it was you did you get away with it or not?

We met a porsche driver who got 750 for 140 in a 110!!! I checked several times and it was 140 KPH NOT MPH! He was in the middle of a convoy as well - all moving at the same speed.

Sounds like a fishermans tale. The max fine in france for speeds between 131 and 185 is 90€ between 186 and 195 is 130€ and above 195 is 750€.

I know this becouse i was stoped on the Le Mans to Alencon motorway doing 175 KPH and fined 90€.

The police were extremly freindly and when asked printed off the list of maximum fines.

Was that the one which was overtaking three abreast, with two wheels on the dusty verge!? Nutter!

BTW my fine was just a piffling €90 for 60kmh in a 50kmh zone (just before the turn off onto the N138 outside Rouen) but I'm more bothered about whether the points will end up on my UK license, is this the case or not? (No ominous envelopes in the post yet...)

Chap must have been lying then - seems strange telling people he was going slower than he was though.

smpaton,

sorry but i have to beg to differ.
It's not what speed you are doing, but how much over the limit you are.
In my case i was doing a little over 50km/h over the limit (164 in a 110) so got an instant ban (france only thank goodness) and a 750 Euro fine.

A bit over the top !
I went past a few traps 'tween 130-140 KPH with no bother as I thought they should allow a bit of leeway on a main road..must have been lucky...

I have a house in France and drive through regularly - the fines are for kmh over the limit - if you are 50kmh over, the gendarme can give you €750 fine and a ban - infact one of our le mans party was fined this amount for 125kmh in a 70kmh zone on the way home.
