We've always stayed on Houx as we can also get electric. As it looks like there is no electric this year, I'm looking elsewhere (cheaper). Houx Annex still has numbered pitches like Houx, but none of the others have.

How does this work? Is it literally a land grab? First one there gets carte blanche?

It used to be a land grab, it’s a bit more organised now!

On most sites the pitches are marked, and they would prefer you to take the next pitch in the row, however you can go for any pitch.

If you turn up on Friday lunchtime then you are going to get the left overs.

If you have chums going early you can rope off enough spaces easily enough - they rarely want to see proof you've booked multiple tickets etc.

As an offshoot.... Is Houx no longer powered?

Generally unnumbered is just a bunfight, the later you arrive the harder it is.

You always end up with huge bits tape off for ‘others still to arrive’ with catering and tv tents taking up huge spaces

The stuff that the ACO sent out pre ticket sales seemed to suggest that none of the sites have electric hook up any more. Whether they have actually removed it from Houx and Houx Annexe is another matter. You probably won't know for sure until you get there.

Officially no sites will have electricity, don’t suppose we’ll know the reality until the sites open

From what In know Houx does have electricity just not on every pitch. So pot luck if particular pitch has it.

I doubt they’ve removed the supply posts.
As always, take several caravan extension leads, and continental adapter. I always take a breakout adapter as well so you can tap into somebody else’s feed.

2021 was quite amusing. Tickets for Houx, 'Non-number', not our usual campsite,,

Our advance party did not pay much attention and was pointed 'down there' by stewards. When I turned up I asked what the numbers met on our pitch..

Quite a few of us so we had 8 pitches. At this point, we were quite well-built and did not fancy moving...

Delicate communications with various folks x 8 then occurred over the next few days...

A mistake not to be repeated.
