Hi Peeps..As the park at greenwich will be closing from the 7th July until the 1st October it has been suggested that the Thurrock services car park may be a good place to park and have a sarnie and a tea..Might not be as picturesque as the royal park but we need somewhere that is easy to get to for people travelling from essex and kent, I dont mind a little bit of a drive..if anyone else has a suggestion please put it forward..Cheers..Ziga

Should you be advertising a "sausage meet" when you are talking about a meeting in a London Park? eek

Just a thought

See you Saturday for a beer in the safe surroundings of the hotel bar

Cheers

Hi all
Been trying to make the "sausage meet" for a while now but been so busy at work I've had to work 7 of the last 9 Saturdays - and I thought there was supposed to be a recession on! Will be trying to make this weeks meet as I'm only 3 miles from Thurrock Services - not the nicest of venues but probably convenient for most people
The nearest place to thurrock services I can think of off the top of my head for a decent meeting place would be Weald Country Park just off Junction 28 at Brentwood an additional 12 miles or so into Essex - a bit too far for some of you coming up through the tunnel I think ? Anyhow let me know and hope to see some of you on Saturday

Maybe one of the guys from Kent could suggest somewhere just the other side of the River in the Greenhithe/ Dartford/ Sidcup area? Quite looking forward to hearing the sound of the exhaust bouncing off the Walls of the Dartford tunnel !

Hi

If I was able to come to these meetings I would and to me a 30 to 50 drive would not be a problem. Just be getting the car hot!
But if you just want it to be just for a small number round were you live Mark then you will always have a small number or cars which I think is a shame for you with the effort you put in!

It's the same problem with the fest each year we have discussion on were to Hold it and the main reason that it's the Chase, is it's in the best place for most in the country.
If you are havening a reqular local meeting if you want it to be a succses and want more cars you need it to be central to the largest catchment area, not how close it's to me!

Now I have a great place for the fest, great access just of the A1 in St Neots etc but it's in Cambridgeshire half a mile from my home, great for me great for a fest, but the location for every body else in the country is not so good, so it's not the place to have the fest!

Think Zigs right , I assume as meets are usually in greenwich most attendees are from SE London & Kent. The extra 25 miles on a round trip to Brentwood rather than thurrock services may discourage some of the regulars from coming until the Olympics are over and Greenwich park re-opens which would be a pity - as you say Mr Tank it would be good to find a venue which would attract the most people possible - any ideas anyone?

Hi Peeps..I had a look and there is a place called Danson park in bexley..Just off the A2, They have a kiosk that sells hot and cold food..tea and coffee..there is also parking but it is limited and its pay & display..Its also quite picturesque for taking pictures...I will phone them tomorrow but do have a funeral to go to in the morning so it will probably be afternoon...Cheers...Ziga

Hi all
Danson park sounds ok to me Zig - 30 mile round trip and i get the bonus of hearing the exhaust through the tunnel on the way homedriving. The wedge is doing its best to stop me attending though- the very small crack at the edge of the screen has spread alarmingly over the last week or so, so the screens gonna have to be changed asap ,also Tatiana (or Tatty for short cos she is) totally flattened her battery overnight- traced to the headlights- i flicked them on on sunday but the nearside pod failed to rise (surprise surprise) but had started the rise cycle and therefore continued to pull current from the battery at the rate of nearly 10 amps! managed to fiddle about with it and get the current draw down to 0.1 amps but pod still not popping upscratchchin. Don't think my lights are wired correctly any way they have a direct feed from the battery so turning off the ignition doesn't isolate them at all and also they don't pop up on the flasher either (i don't have driving lights ) so in order to flash someone i have to turn the lights on first ! Still it doesn't stop the car running so providing its not p***ing down ill be there to enjoy the facilities blablaburgercoffee

Hi,
Weald park good for me as based in Essex and coffee hut only few yards from main car park. Danson Park ok too, parking is round the back of the restored house in the converted stables car park which is now a pub/restaurant. There is a small coffee place about 50 yards away in the kids play area and can get a drink in the pub too. They are good parks but definately won't get the attention like we got in Greenwich. Happy to mix the venues up.

yes Mark, Weald park is where the car show was.Main car park was at the bottom. Shame there isn't a cafe on the front at Blackheath as could still do Greenwich run out after. Still thinking about other alternatives.

Hi Paul..There is a tea hut outside the park on the heath although the parking is a bit sporadic..They actually sell a burger named after one of my friends as we used to be regulars there years ago after the pub or if we were hungry at 2-3 in the morning..Its called an animal burger..Historic..It was known as "The stagger to greasy petes"...I will find out if the road adjacent is still open after the park is shut..Cheers...Ziga
