Ah, I see, that makes sense now.
I wonder how much more the cost is for "normal" mileage, say 12-15k (I would assume people that want/need to lease would be doing more mileage anyway?)
For a rep mobile xs mileage rate should be 6-7ppm. I would suspect this could be much more.
Why would people leasing be doing more mileage? It's just a financial option.
Because it's not a cheap way of having a car to drive and if one does a high mileage it goes someway to justifying it as the cost per mile becomes "reasonable". If you did 2 or 3 thousand miles a year it is very expensive per mile. I don't know anyone that leases a car and does a small mileage, most do "normal" or high mileage.
Also, doing a higher mileage on an older/used car can mean more time off road (repairs etc.) so the importance of no "downtime" is greater. If you only did a few thousand miles a year (so probably don't commute in a car), chances are you will probably be in a position to have the car off road for a few days here or there.

Indeed. Also - who said it's money you don't have?

Depends on your definition of bargain. As I read it, that's £12,300 per year to rent a car!

Although, for the money, I'd rather a Maserati than many others at the same cost biggrin

Sounds bad, but how much would you lose in depreciation in the first year if you bought the car outright?
Dracoro no its not.

6+23 means 6 months deposit upfront so £3k ish plus £550pm for 23 months. Your first year it would cost about £10k and about £6600 in your second year. Thats quite cheap for a new Maserati.

Merc were doing the slk amg sport diesel for £240pm inc vat or £199 inc vat for petrol non sport. Both on 6+23. Now thats cheap.

Has anyone seen any good personal deals for:

Audi S4 Black Edition.
BMW 535d MSport Xtrack

36 Months and 10K.

I need/want an AWD Saloon, with fairly decent performance.

I had an Audi deal eyed up, which is my personal preference - but they cannot do it after all.
Still looking for an S4 Black Edition!!

Please check my subsequent posts, I mistakenly thought "8k" was additional cost, not the mileage.

But effectively, it costs you about £16,600 to rent the Maserati for a couple of years.

That's a good summary. How much do you think the depreciation would be?

In many ways, it doesn't matter as the car is not owned, it's rented. The renter is unaffected if the car loses or gains a shedload, they pay the £16,600 regardless.

The car may cost £50k for someone to buy retail, however the company renting out the car won't have paid that much (indeed, if it's the manufacturer it will be significantly less than retail price). For example, let's say it costs £35k to manufacture, they get £16,600 from the renter, so just over £18k they need to sell if for (as a 2 yr old car) to make a profit. I suspect a 2 year old one (from a MD) will be £30k at least. From the manufacturers perspective, the car has depreciated about £5k (and got £16k paid to them in the process! £11k instant profit. (figures are for illustrative purposes etc...)

Golf R's are on a cracking deal right now. Lots to think about but would prefer an M135i. Thinking of changing in Q4 so keeping an eye on the market.

Go Green Leasing are doing citroen C1s for £78.48 on a 3+47 with 10k miles pa. That works out at around 10p per mile.

Bargain.

We've been looking at an Audi Q3. The dealer wants a £7k deposit and then £430 p/m, with an estimated depreciation in the first 2 yrs of around £12k, plus interest. The same car via leasing is around £300 p/m with a £2k deposit for 2 yrs and 10k miles pa. It's far, FAR cheaper to lease one that it is to buy on Audi PCP.

But if you wanted that Maserati and as a private punter without the option for a big discount that the lease company gets then I reckon on that car it'd be cheaper to lease and then get another after the 2 years. You said £30k after 2 years on a car that is £50k new....

Of course, ultimately it simply comes down to whether you want to own or rent a car.
