That's nearly £11k over four years for a car that costs £14k outright to buy. So how's that a good price?!?

Anyone know where to look for deals on the new Xtrail (1.6d, 2wd, 5 seat, manual, yeah, yeah, yeah, about as PH as a flat cap full of vegetarians' poo, I know)?

That. hehe

I didn't realise they were 13/14k, I assumed they would be closer to 20k. That seems quite reasonable.

I was trying to work out the equivalent APR, but seeing as 4 year old cars are being advertised at £9K-13K (trade, admittedly) that is undoubtedly a crappy deal.

WBAC is £7250 on a four-year-old Abarth and a new one is £14250.

Calling it £1k down and £200 a month, that works out at £3,400 of interest or 8.2% APR.

It's lower than I expected because the balloon is so big relative to the principal, which means you owe more for longer.

Hardly a bargain though when you could get a 5-year loan for that amount for £45 more per month, giving you £4500 or so of equity at 4 years for your £2k of extra payments.

I've been looking at the new shape Mercedes C class. I know there was a good deal going for the SE models a few weeks back, but has anyone noticed anything now?

Without sounding lazy, are these direct through Mercedes or with lease companies?

I'm after a replacement for my recently deceased Rover 75 and have been looking in the region of around £4000 per year budget (about £300 per month).

Any where they're so cheap that you'd be mad not to go for one?

Absolutely, I can't see any deals about on Mercs that I'd describe as good at the moment. Nothing on CLS' at all.

There's one very cheap CLS 250 CDI Shooting Brake available- stock low on the CLS as it's just about to be facelifted. Also a handful of C-Class Coupes, a couple of A Class, an SLK 250 and a couple of E-Class that have all been registered (but unused.)

CLS 250 CDI AMG Sport Shooting Brake Auto (current shape), Palladium Silver with Grey Leather. Business contract hire, 6+23 rentals, 10,000 mpa, £342.27 + VAT

Thanks for that. I was looking for a similar deal but personal and on a coupe. I've been quoted £577 plus 9 months upfront which is way too much.

Will there be deals on the new model soon do you think?

Probably not immediately - as with the new C-Class there aren't any major deals just yet. Usually about 12 months after the model's launched before proper deals start to appear.

Ahh pure lease as opposed to PCP etc? I'm afraid I tend to treat anything involving monthly payments as the same thing. Merc are asking 6k down and then £517 a month on 36month deal for similar above.
