It might only depreciate that from the fleet cost the lease company buys it at. Depends how much discount the leaseco gets.

You might be right, though I'm sceptical.

The only relevant questions are:

1. If you actually want *this* car, can you buy and run it yourself for less than the leaseco is charging?
2. If you don't particularly want *this* car, can you buy or lease anything you would want more than you would want the difference in price?

I don't really care if the leaseco is buying my car for £10k and trading it on at £20k, as long as I can't go elsewhere and get a better deal.

Interesting question over the purchase at end of lease/contract.

Legally if you are the hirer then you are not allowed to buy the vehicle. However theres nothing to stop someone else doing so e.g. if you hire in your company's name then you can purchase it in your own name, if you wish.

However, it seems to me that the days of end of lease bargains have long gone. I guess its probably a product of the fact that the actual leases are more competitively priced.

I have enquired on purchase price for our last 2 contract hire vehicles, and the valuation I've been given has been waaay too high! In both cases I found I could buy a younger example, possibly better specced and/or with fewer miles, from a main dealer and benefit from better/longer warranty. Made no sense! However the price was non-negotiable, so they have just been returned to, presumably, be auctioned at a loss!! No doubt all comes down to which area of the business has the loss in their budget etc...

There should be no reason why you can't purchase a personal contract hire vehicle at the end of the agreement. Strictly speaking, you shouldn't be able to buy a vehicle that was on a business contract hire agreement though. Not in the same name any way!

That's a good deal. There were a few kicking around a few months ago and was lining one up for the Mrs who being indecisive didn't pull the trigger. Just as well as she's since found she's moving offices and will be able to walk to work.

I've not driven the Leon but have the same engine in the Octavia.

FYI ive had a proper quote for this based on 10k a 6.9ppm excess of £227. May pull the trigger on this one. Supposedly a cracking little car and £227 is pretty damn cheap I think.

They also quoted me £244 for the DSG version but from reading online, the DSG isnt actually available on the 184 so this was perhaps an error in their quote. It would appear the DSG is only available in the lower models.

Im more likely to be doing 14-15k actually. Am waiting on a 15k mile quote to see what the difference is...
