Possibly a stupid question, but I start a new job in 2 weeks time where I will be taking my company car allowance as 'cash' (the cars on the list aren't big enough for what I need). Given this will be on my payslip as 'company car', does that mean I am able to apply for 'business' leases and not pay the VAT, or am I still stuck with personal leases where VAT is applied?

Everybody pays the vat.

A business can claim / offset the vat content at the end of its vat quarter.
But because it's not a commercial vehicle as a business you can only claim / offset 50% of the vat content.

Cheers for the replies. I'll have to check out an ML, but 800 quid is a bit steep. I could probably buy one for that.
All things being equal on a PCP (deposit, mileage, depreciation, term etc) verses lease, I think you may be pushing it to buy one cheaper.

Unless it's a pool car in which case you can claim it all back.

Great if you only want to take it home occasionally and have more than one employee, hard for most contractors.

Any decent Range Rover Sport deals out there? I know nothing about leasing and have one other question. Can I put my plate on a lease car?
RR Sport comes to over £800 a month which is definitely NOT a good deal.

If you'd consider a Mercedes ML they can be had for half that through several companies.
Any link to the ML deals?

Applied have the 250 SE for £463 inc vat. I accept that's not £400 but I think if you really tried you'd come up with better. I had one as a loan car and it really was nice.

I've got two cars and a van already, another on order (E350) and I'm on the lookout for a fourth (Evora). Leaving one at the office overnight (not all day, business use is permitted)) isn't a hardship.

Anyone with the Fiesta ST-3 from G2L received their September car yet? Twice now I've been told that we'll contact you when it's at the dealer. No date either.

Quick question

Do some lease companies buy the car outright from a dealer then lease it out to the punter?

Correct. There are a few who buy it directly from the manufacture and it's supplied through them; but most are from dealers yes.

Was it a factory order?
Received a focus ST-3 within two weeks of ordering.

I was told they had them in stock for September delivery. Could have a black, or blue one at their £179.99 rate. Went to order one and was told they only had the car for £189.99 with style pack and it had to be delivered by September to qualify for this rate. A non style pack car would be later and possibly a higher rate. I didn't really want the style pack, but figured £10 a month was no big deal.

I've asked twice now and to be honest I'd have expected more details by now. Other than it should arrive this week of September at the dealer and then wel'll have a better date.. Considering I ordered six weeks ago and returned all paperwork ASAP I'd presumed based on this thread that communications about dates etc were more solid.

I'm thinking that I'll wait until the end of this week and will call to find out as I need to arrange parking and insurance etc.
