You would lose 35k+ if you bought the car
At full price. It does still look slightly more cost effective than purchasing, although not by much. Its just a little out of my comfort zone to rent an eclass I guess...each to their own.https://www.broadspeed.com/CarView/Mercedes-Benz/E...

Probably not £35k over two years going by the usual depreciation curve, more likely that amount in three years.
The E63 is less clear cut but for the M5, leasing worked out much cheaper, cost of leasing for 2yrs is £16k.The equivalent 2 yr old M5 is worth £39k as a trade in. You could buy an M5 with discount for £63k when I took out my lease.
Therefore leasing is about £8k cheaper than the depreciation suffered in that time. Actually £8.5k because they pay my road tax in the second year as well :smug:

The deal has been widely linked earlier in the thread (where I first saw it, thanks to whoever posted), my car (Estate) has come from MB direct but Tilsun have the same deal here http://www.tilsungroup.com/mercedes-e+class-e350-b...
I'm severely tempted by this , but I would be a straight personal. Assuming MB direct wouldn't be able to do much for me ?I'm thinking of popping down the dealers later to have a look at one , but I'm sure they're constantly wound up by idiots coming in with printouts from the internet that they can't possibly match .
Another cheap golf r lease if it actually exists

i realised i don't know the answer to this, but admittedly haven't thought about it before:
is there an argument for taking out gap insurance if i am leasing a car, or is it irrelevant? The lease co did ask to see my insurance policy and also that it met certain parameters re excess etc, but if they are happy with that then i don't need to take out gap do i??

They may be happy that you are good for the shortfall....is there an argument for taking out gap insurance if i am leasing a car, or is it irrelevant? Personally I'm pretty happy to take this kind of risk in general, but I do have GAP on my lease car because the lease company's settlement figure is unknown and unknowable. If that figure is more than market value then you either have to argue it away or pay up; for the £100 or so that a GAP policy costs, it's worth paying for that hassle or risk to go away long before it happens.
You do however need to buy a policy that is designed to address lease shortfalls specifically (RTI is no good because there's no invoice value to return it to).

I think the MB deals are all through MB finance so the dealers will be able to match them. They are also able to haggle a bit when it is month end and they are close to hitting targets.I'm thinking of popping down the dealers later to have a look at one , but I'm sure they're constantly wound up by idiots coming in with printouts from the internet that they can't possibly match .

I would say more important than ever. is there an argument for taking out gap insurance if i am leasing a car, or is it irrelevant? You may owe the outstanding value and the outstanding payments if the worst happens.

Thanks.
So bearing in mind I've not thought of this before and admit that - if this car turns up tomorrow with 200 miles on the clock, do I have a case?
I should have thought of this before, so responsibility is with me and it's my own fault I guess.
Most will be a driven delivery, there's next to no money in the vehicle, es[pecially if you go via a broker. The delivery miles don't count towards your allowed mileage. Also, most delivery drivers tend to be older people, we delivery hundreds of cars a year this and don't have an issue with them.So bearing in mind I've not thought of this before and admit that - if this car turns up tomorrow with 200 miles on the clock, do I have a case?

That will only work if there vehicle is in stock and can be registered in the month. If it's a 3 month lead time it will make no difference to them or their targets.Ben

so, my normal car insurance will cover me for current market value at the point of a total loss. So when you say I am liable for the value of the car, i assume you are meaning that figure, and the gap covers the remaining payments or no?

I'm looking at something cheap, cheerful and small for the missus to drive around.
The Ford Fiesta seems to be one of the better bets at around £130pcm lease. PCP is quite a bit more expensive.
