I like the 5GT, so much nicer than the 5 series for cruising around and more practical than the 7 series.
Interior is a big step up from the 5er which is already great.

And the facelift rear end is much better...

The ugliness of the the GT variants means that the only people that want them are the ones that are attracted by discounts applied because no-one wants them. I know a guy who bought a 5GT because of this. it's not something I'd do, but fair enough.
This. My father had one as a loaner when his 520d was in for some problems. He was telling me how lavishly equipped it was and how it must've been 50k+ in price. I priced one up for him and he was astounded how "cheap" it was (he probably called it inexpensive). I came to the conclusion they include lots of options and price them low because noone would buy one otherwise. The GT badge looks like it was designed for another brand/car and the backside is one that only its mother would love. Ugly ugly ugly.

Just about to spend another fortune on getting my 10 year old mini through its mot so I can use it once or twice a week for the commute when SWMBO has the other car. Totting up what I spend on the bloody thing seemingly every month fixing something, and taking into consideration the tax and insurance , the man maths are actually realistic!

Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 SRi 5dr

£999 + £84 pm plus Vat for 8k miles over 2 years. £1750 per year essentially inc vat

Can get the Zetec S 1.0 125 Fiesta with the same deposit and £113 a month worth the extra stretch if you can imo

I'll have a look, I'm being a skinflint on the commuter, as I'm going to lease something a bit nicer as the family barge. It might literally go weeks without being used or at most used twice a week to do 20 miles, but when it does I need it to be there (before anyone suggests taxis would be cheaper biggrin)

The Golf R has gone as low as I can stand, I have now made contact about taking a 3DR DSG car to replace SWMBO Focus ST.....

Looking at £2k down and £210/month. The DSG has added a fair chunk on to the price, I haven't tried one before though bounce

Same here. The missus is looking at a a3 or golf 20tdi, but the golf r is much cheaper. I told her to order one and I'll have it if she doesn't like it!

But it's an old 2006 model Corsa - £1750 outright could buy you one! Fairly dated and horrible cars now, the Fiesta deal would be a much better bet.

to be honest it's been down around there for about 6 months, on and off. You're lucky the deal hasn't disappeared completely out from under you as deals like that are very rarely around for so long. Not sure why VW are trying to flood the market with them, but it's worked out well for you. Great car, you'll love it. Presume it will be January before you see it.

Plenty of people on these at the moment. I hadn't even considered a golf but with 300 horses for that money its a cracking deal.

Test drive in a DSG lined up early next week.

But she will save nearly £4 a week in fuel if she goes for a 140bhp clattery 4cyl diesel. wink

It's only 300bhp, she fueled a Z4M before, this will be refreshing wink

it's pretty painless actually. Will be far less costly at the pumps than a Z4M.

Is red the only available colour? Is there an option to upgrade the wheels?

You can have any option you want, but you'll pay the full cost over the term of the lease. As such, any options taken become very expensive.

No all colours available, White is an extra £15/month, Metallic is £21 a month.

Didn't ask about the wheels as I know they are £900 so would probably add at least £35/month to the price! It was a choice between Metallic/19" wheels and the DSG box for me and I chose the latter smile

He commented that stock is running out fast.

£1750 + £250pcm is still a bloody good deal on that car, what's a shame is the delivery timescale on it!

OK, the Golf R is now too cheap for me not to get one. The missus can drive it when I get bored.

Personal on a 24m/10k. 5 dr DSG in Silver, no other options.

Who has the best numbers?

This looks the best? (if real)
