I'm in a bit of a pickle with my current car i.e its fked. Can anyone recommend a lease deal for a supermini just to pop to work in. Need realistically 12k a year and a short term lease if possible.

Skoda Citigo or something like that.

Cheers.

It's these 5k 'offers' that annoy me the most. Nobody is realistically going to do that mileage in an everyday car, even my pensioner mum probably does more!

Edit: I do of course appreciate that these are just headline offers to get people through the door.

For a quote you don't need details of someone.

Surely to a credit check you provided them with address's, bank details, employment details etc.?
To run a credit check you need name, address and preferably DOB.

For an underwriter to check affordability if not satisfied with ID check and/or credit check they may ask for written proof's, job details, income/expenditure etc

A quote WILL NOT mean a credit check, an application for the car will mean a credit check and rightly so as per regulation for lending.

An initial ID check on a quote is highly unlikely due to cost but if they do it will leave a soft footprint only visible to the customer and does not impact on credit score.

More like most people who are likely to lease aren't going to bother for 5k miles but someone who doesn't commute by car might average around that in a year. I'm currently on just over 5k in the past 11 months and can see why someone might want a nice new car for evening/weekend use.

ETA I do agree that an A6 Ultra doesn't make much sense for 5k p/a

Agreed. Especially on a business lease. It is ridiculous but just thought I'd share it anyway as it's possible the rates for more normal mileage will be ok?

True but if it's 6p/mile + VAT then 20k pa is only £305 + VAT - still not exactly dirt cheap but certainly competitive for that mileage. And I'd rather pay for low miles and have the option to go high at a reasonable cost per mile, so that if I end up doing 18k or 19k instead of 20k, I come out ahead.

Depends on the excess mileage charge - the 5k pa works out at about 81p/mile over the term, if you've got 11p/mile excess (just picking a figure, I don't know what it's likely to be) another 10000 miles in two years is £1100, or about £46 per month (or an extra £37 per payment on the 6 + 23 format).

Do they not restrict how far above the excess mileage charge you're allowed to go? Take a 5,000 a year lease and you can exceed that by up to 2,000 per year at the agreed rate but after that penalty charges start to apply.

I think I've read that on some of the quotes I've had but am not certain, so could be dreaming it. Anyone know if that's actually the case?

Is that per year or for the whole agreement?

It could be done, though you couldn't call it a penalty (it would have to be on a sliding scale). Not all do that - my car has a flat rate although if I went far enough over, I'd have been better off buying the car instead.

Might be a bit late for this suggestion but I come here looking for best car lease deals available but most of the thread seems to be about how leases work, and other related topics.....could we have a "All about leasing" thread and keep this to best lease deals as per the topic?

Why not consider this thread the 'All about leasing' thread and accept that you may have to scan a few pages to get what you're looking for? There's rarely more than a page of posts per day, it's reached 206 pages in just over a year, surely that's not a problem?

Because that isn't what the thread is titled or the principle on which threads are generally posted (imho) - the idea being they have a topic and you read it if you are interested in that topic. I'm not familiar with a forum on which you read all topics in case there is an post several pages in that might appeal - not a great use of time. I don't necessarily read pistonheads every day and sometimes it seems like reading through pages hoping to find a nugget of a deal and there are none or few - somewhat defeating the purpose of the thread. I thought that is why internet forums are moderated, to seek to keep them relevant and on-track. Not a problem in terms of Syria, world peace or an ebola pandemic no, a minor frustration on that scale. We are at risk of taking the thread of topic also so happy to leave it there.

Of course then along come some lease deals to prove me wrong smile
