Were the fabled Golf R deals that everyone on the internet signed up for only 'good' if you opted for a low annual mileage - 10k PA or less?

I'm just wondering 'if' the Estate version will have such attractive rates when it is launched, but I'd need at least 15-20k PA.

Steve
Anyone? biggrin

Where from?
Evans Halshaw Sheffield.

I'm in Leeds and they couldn't quite match that deal.

The guy doing them is called Daniel Baldock.

You might need to move quick though as I think there are only 2 physical cars left in the UK and I got one yesterday with a bit of luck. Deal is said to run out 31st of this month (they would say that though eh!).

We have a thread about them here.

The best deals were obviously on low mileages, but I think a lot of people went for them taking into account excess mileage fees might be £350 - £400 per 5000 miles.

Could have got it cheaper if I'd acted a couple of weeks sooner too!

I think Renault are really pushing them at the moment in order to shift excess stock or to mee some EV quota, or something.

you pay for what you use. The deals with lower excess mileage charge at the latter end of the lifetime of the cheap deals would tend to not increase as much with increased mileage (it's basically the same calc), however it's all academic as unfortunately you've missed it. I'd say they are less likely to reappear than Nessie. I'd set a reminder for Xmas day though, you might miss that too! smile

i suspect, as Renault are fked, that they are trying to reinvent themselves as the EV people.

I am speculating that the estate version due in the spring "might" have similar deals. Of course, they "might" not biggrin

Thanks for that. Off to test drive one at lunchtime. The headline offer is £129 + 45 per month, which is less than I currently spend on petrol by a good few quid.

Absolutely no insider info what so ever! I am looking for a new car come April and a nice cheap Golf R estate would tick a whole lot of boxes! I was in turn looking for others speculative opinions on the subject.

It would look nice cruising through Lymm wink

ah right, well it's kind of a new sector i guess (fast small estates), maybe VW would want to land and dominate it, so maybe just maybe... of course because there isn't an equivalent BMW (although their range is so vast it's hard to keep track... nothing springs to mind) maybe they'll just ride on that for a bit. Mfrs move in mysterious ways.

Certainly it would offset the weeny boot in the hatch - it really is small thanks to the 4motion. On balance i'd rather have the 4wd but if you can have both then great.

As long as you're aware there can be only one highlander in this neck of the woods!! wink

Renault aren't fked, but they do have a big EV target for next year. And they're far from trying to reinvent themselves as 'EV people'. Renault and Nissan are the biggest players in the EV sector, so will always push this side of the business.

And far from being fked as you put it, Renault have lots of new product coming out over the next 2 years. And have also had their best year this year for a long time.

OK I've checked myself... apparently there is a BMW 225i xDrive M Sport Active Tourer... up on fuel economy, down on power (66hp down), same price, not really a looker

no idea about deals though, and it would need to be pretty good to beat a Golf R estate IF the deals came online!!

well i haven't seen the figures, just basing it on the fact that you see so few of them new in the UK now, and they pulled a load of their lineup too IIRC. Maybe that was just for the UK. They peaked in the 90s and the 00s i reckon.

There are still some 'not bad' GolfR deals around all things considered. Not to the extent of them a couple of months back, but ~£270 pm incl VAT with around 1800 upfront if I recall, which is better than any lease deals for M135's I've seen recently.
