That's concerning. Are Mercedes leases still like that? Does it make any difference which broker you go through?

I'm hoping not too as am expecting a call back about one next week... I'm valuing the ease of a new lease against the savings and hassle of second hand cars. If the leaser is going to be hassle then it is not worth it.

How long have you been in the business? End of lease charges were a big thing a few years ago, as you can see from some of the old threads I listed above.

Despite what I wrote in some of those old posts, I have (just) gone back to leasing and with Mercedes, so I rather hope that things have changed, but it was a big issue only a few years ago and I'm surprised it passed you by.
10 years. I've posted the BVRLA guidelines before, to save trawling through this thread here they are again

www.bvrla.co.uk/service/fair-wear-and-tear-guides

If you feel that return costs are too high, you can try and appeal them. But if you return a car with 4 wheels that have been scuffed to kingdom come, then expect to be charged more than it would cost you to get them refurbed.

I've had one or two cases where the costs have been high, and I've helped my customers get them reduced but they really didn't help themselves. Both have been for windscreens that have been cracked as opposed to chipped. £50 under your insurance to replace the screen, or a bill for £400. It's not difficult to avoid high return costs.

Here's some handy videos for Mercedes-Benz

Mine went back a few months ago and I had no bother. I did have a small dent (less than 1 inch) on a door but the inspector (from BCA) was fine with it.

Ian, i asked Rivervale the question as our Fiesta ST lease will be in my name but my wife will be the main driver and its her insurance policy (i will be a named driver under her policy). They said that was fine as its a husband and wife scenario.

It might be different on say a parent and child or similar.
Rivervale have just confirmed the same to me: Wife can insure it as long as i'm a named driver.

They aren't.

I've handed back 4 different MBs in the last 5 years without any charges. However, I look after these cars like they are my own, so they're in good condition. If you abuse them and trash the alloys and drive into walls whilst parking/whatever, then yes there'll be charges. Fair wear and tear is expected, but not abuse.

My GTD deal is £273.05 on a 3+23 with 8000mpa. Total cost is £7099.30. On that deal with 6pp excess total cost would be £6743.59 for 8000mpa, so yes, it's pretty good.

It just seems that leasing companies are using the headline figure more and more to draw people in.

If you change that GTD deal to 10000mpa the deposit jumps to £6185.35 with a monthly of £412.36. Total cost £15669.63!

Mentioned earlier in the thread as 6ppm. I assume it is not staggered.
