Best lease car deals available?
Discussion
Here's my patented Lease Deal "Value-ometer" which takes in to account the list price of the car:-
Total up all costs over a two year deal, normalise to 10k miles by adding on any PPM. Then divide the RRP of the car by this total. Gives a value score that typically tops out at around 5 for the best deals. For example the Freedom Octavia Scout deal is:-
2400+239 +(23*84) = 4571 then add £720 for additional 10k miles= £5,291
£26,000ish RRP ( with metallic ) / £5291 = a Value-ometer score of 4.9
Maybe helps answer the recurring question posted here of "Is this a good deal?"

Who did you go with in the end?
I phoned the company you recommended this morning and the guy ran through some numbers and said he would email them over right away. Nothing turned up though. In the meantime the finance was cleared with MB through Freedom contracts so gone with them. Just reading the paperwork now. Can't believe a car basically capable of driving itself doesn't come with mats!!!!

I wonder if it'd be an idea on this thread to standardise the format of the deals - eg. always show the 3+23 price. 9+ deals are all very well, but the deposits are bonkers.
What about if we just did the total cost including vat? Or per year with the deposit averaged?MoelyCrio said:

I've ordered the same car, paid slightly more at CVL before the freedom deals came out.Running some figures on the valuometer gives a scale of 1-5ish.
1. You're having a laugh.
2. Nope, not good enough.
3. OK deals, but still a bit "Meh!"
4. Now we are talking, worthy of this thread.
5. That's a helluva deal.
Can anyone find a deal scoring a 6?

Surely the best appraisal of value is lease cost versus depreciation not list price?
After all, £200 a month to lease a car that costs £50,000 and would be worth £50,000 in 2 years time is a terrible deal but £200 a month to lease a car that costs £30,000 and would be worth £500 in 2 years time would be a bargain.

Up to a point but you also need to take into account the fact that if you bought, then sold the car, you would have to fund the purchase price somehow, either from foregone interest on savings or through a loan.
So £200/month on a £50k car worth £50k in two years' time would be 5% flat interest with nil repayment of principal - not great but less horrible than it might seem.

OK it's only the 163bhp diesel, but still.....
Hence why it is cheap, nasty car to drive. For £300-ish a month given the spec it looks pretty strong against the current E-Class and 5er deals IMO
