OK it's only the 163bhp diesel, but still.....
Hence why it is cheap, nasty car to drive.
The reviews say otherwise, but I've never driven one.

For £300-ish a month given the spec it looks pretty strong against the current E-Class and 5er deals IMO
That's a good price for a XF Portfolio. The only downside is that the car will stop production around May and by the end of the year you will be driving "last years model".
And Jags are fking awful.

I've come across some deals on the Audi range.

About £599.99 p/m for rs6 or the deal I've also seen is on the q5 quattro se for £272.79 p/m
More details? Which companies? Links? Or are you just bragging wink

The RS6 would appear to be a business contract (plus VAT) with a 9 month deposit. At least they appear to offer a personal version and only want the VAT added for it. Still probably a good deal though. Unless the poster wasn't referring for example to:

The RS6 working out around £960pm over the 2 years

£6,480 deposit
£16,560 (23 x £720)

Add a bit of spec to that and it's north of £1k pm easy. Still though, for a £80k car, not too bad.

A cheaper deal through PCP over 36 months which equates to around £890pm with around £3.5k additional spec added below..

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Although only 5k pa, okay for a 2nd/weekend car but for a main you would need to bump the mileage up.

The mrs had an XF with the 163 diesel engine for a few years. It was great, never felt particularly slow but did feel much more special than the BM / Merc equivalents at the time.

I had a XF 3.0d S portfolio and whilst pokey and comfy, the orchestra of squeaks and creaks and the 5 times it inexplicably ran its battery flat, and the new steering rack and suspension it need at 2 years old signalled not a great motor. The entertainment system based on a ZX spectrum was an embarrassment too. But hey it was pretty looking and that's enough for most people.

But ours didn't squeak and creek or run its battery flat or need new suspension which was enough for us, I suspect this is the case for the majority of owners. Agree with you on the entertainment system mind you, although that has surely been improved by now.

Just ordered a Golf GTD, local dealer has some cars already allocated so build might be as soon as late March.

Flat Black

DSG

Cloth Trim

Winter Pack

18's

Standard spec pretty much as I am leasing. Lease makes much more sense with Tax etc through the business.

Anybody got any idea about the legalities of swapping the wheels on a leased car?

I am thinking of swapping for another set of 18's, get tyres switched over then return the original wheels for when it goes back in 2 years. Cheaper to buy a set new set than get the diamond cut factory alloys refurbished then sell the aftermarket ones in 2 years.

No legal issue there at all, sounds like common sense.

I took the deal with a 5k per year allowance. When you run the numbers it is better to pay the excess mileage at the end for mileage you have done than overpay each month for mileage you might not do. Also the lower mileage of course means a lower deposit.

If I took the same car with a 10k per annum allowance it would be £354x 3 deposit and £354 x 23 = £9204.(inc VAT)

My deal is £282x 3 deposit plus 23x £282 = £7332. (inc VAT)

If I did a total of 20k miles the excess 10k miles would cost £720 (inc VAT).

So £720 + £7332 = £8052 which is still £1152 cheaper than the 10k per annum lease over the 24 mths!!!

£6205 in total is superb - couldn't find anything as good as that around at the moment. Golf prices appear to have risen somewhat in the wake of the Golf R deals!
