Mileage is enough, I've got 2 cars so haven't done more than 7000 per year in my current BMW for the last 5 years.
So why do you want a diesel one? It's hardly as if the deal is so outrageous you'd be foolish not to, it works out at almost £10k to drive 8k PA in a diesel 3 Series for 2 years. It's hardly the next Golf R deal is it? It works out to almost 60p a mile JUST in lease payments!Infact as far as deals go that 535i one a few pages back was better.

I don't particularly want a diesel but that's what most companies offer, if I was buying I would buy a 328.Infact as far as deals go that 535i one a few pages back was better.
Clearly it's not the next Golf R deal but if that was available I would certainly be snapping it up.

Just got offered a VW Golf GTD 9 + 23 for £210 a month 8kpa inc VAT which seemed a decent deal as excess mileage was only 7ppm?
This was at a main VW Chester dealer was told could get the car in 4 - 6 weeks.
Drove quite nicely but driving position seemed a bit naff as the seat seemed far too high even on the lowest setting seemed worse that on my old 182 which put me off the car a bit...

Looking at a 5 door Golf GTD manual for my wife and have seen this below - anyone seen anything better (ideally wanted a 3+35)? Red paint work and delivery end of April which seems very good considering VW quoting me 16 weeks.
3+23
10000 Miles P/A
Doc Fee: £300.00
INC VAT £267.68 P/M
(contracthireandleasing.com)
The much discussed CVL deal is still cheaper than both of those I think.3+23

For greggy50 yours is £6720, CVL with same mileage works out as £6323.77
For Nick_MSM yours is £7259.68, CVL with same mileage works out as £6611.77
You guys seem to have been quoted very optimistic lead times too.

That's £7268 for a £27k car. Doesn't look especially good value - just a regular price IMHO.
Does it have to be a Golf?

VAUXHALL GTC DIESEL COUPE 2.0 CDTi 16V SRi 3dr (Business Lease deal)
3+23 £167+VAT = £5210
The Astra doesn't look good value either, and most people in the market for a premium German diesel hatchback wouldn't even consider it. I haven't driven one but I'd be surprised if it was a patch on the GTD.Does it have to be a Golf?

Isn't that Astra basically a £17k car, and not a very nice one at that?
ETA - At £16k wouldn't you be better buying one rather than spending a third of it's value on a lease?

You're comparing apples with pears. My point was the golf was not a good price.
The bmw 125d @ 1+23 £230 inc Vat was good and similar good value deals will return.
That deal existed specifically because the F20 in that shape had reached the end of the production run, so they were off-loading them cheaply. Its the same as the stupidly cheap deals on the Tiguan at the moment. You can't say "similar good value deals will return" as its almost impossible to predict. The bmw 125d @ 1+23 £230 inc Vat was good and similar good value deals will return.
I don't know why people keep going on about the 125d whenever the GTD is mentioned. There are certain things (i.e. adaptive cruise control) that the GTD gets standard but would have added loads of money onto the price of the 125d. I seem to remember the Auto box was similarly very expensive to add on, but DSG is a relatively cheap addition on the GTD.
It's not like the golf is so special, it like all cars will be facelifted, replaced and hence discounted. It you want a good lease deal, this thread's title, you need to ride those waves and stay off the options list. Btw auto for 1 series was £30 extra.
For £250 you can be in slk 250cdi - not bad if 2 seats is ok for you.

Not a very PH choice but I've just ordered a Golf 1.6Tdi Match DSG 5dr on a 24 month deal with 5k pa to serve as the family run around.
Total cost over 2 years - £4700 inc VAT (£1800 deposit + 23 x £126) sourced direct from a VW dealership.
Cheapest deal I could find on a DSG by far and the car is in stock. List price is £22805 so I'm paying 20.6% for 2 years and 10k miles. Seemed like a good deal.

20%-25% seems to be the sweet spot. That's what i look for. No way a car will retain 75%-80% of its value after 2 yrs. Hopefully your ppm for excess is low.

Astra is a class below to be honest and would certainly pay the extra for a GTD myself its a lot a nicer car. Must admit I am tempted by a ST Diesel myself however if I can get one at the right price as for me it was the better car overall if GTD had a better driving position for me it would be a harder choice but just personally felt the Focus was a bit more fun both great cars though unlike the Astra...

I rang round a few dealers quoting this offer from Central until I found one with a car in stock (it's 12 weeks lead time for a factory order): http://www.centralukvehicleleasing.co.uk/vehicle/c...The total price worked out slightly cheaper mainly due to VW not charging a document fee. Excess mileage is 7.2p per mile inc VAT.

Surprised about the comments about the golf GTD vrs the Focus ST. Previous generation golfs had great driving positions and the focus always had seats that were way too high! I've owned golfs and focii(?!)
Any way, any one leased an Octavian scout? any good?
A couple of people on another thread have suggested one I sat in may have had a faulty mechanism as they believed the seat went lower I must admit I do think I was either doing something wrong or it was broken as my head was near enough touching the roof lining I am 6 foot 3 but even so something didn't seem quite right.Any way, any one leased an Octavian scout? any good?
Apart from that seemed a very good all rounded I must admit and nice to see VW actually fitting some decent equipment as standard nowadays honestly don't think it really needs any options seems to come with everything you would want as standard.

I have the scout (150) coming in june / july when the current car goes backAny way, any one leased an Octavian scout? any good?
was very impressed when I test drove it - didn't see enough advantage in the higher power one and the manual gearbox is only on the lower power one, so went for that...

What are people being quoted for GTD lead times? I am having a nightmare with the GTD I ordered through CVL, keep moving the date back, breaking promises, not responding to e mails etc.
I too have had issues with CVL albeit slightly different ones with regard to an order where the excess mileage was misquoted and then a subsequent quote with a higher mileage was apparently misquoted also.I cancelled the lease as a result and am now waiting for the return of the doc fee.
